Tell me if I'm wrong but in the next Draft do you think the Cowboys need to focus and get younger at the Wide Receiver position. We seem to have gotten much younger at RB but in the 2009 Draft we need to focus on Receiver.

I think without a doubt WR or DE will be the first round target come the 2009 draft. I say DE, because unless Canty is resigned I could see the need.

Whatever position isn't targeted in round 1 will be the target in round 2.

I think Hos' annual prediction of a QB being drafted will come true next April in the 3rd round.

Will the abundance of draft picks this team has I can see the following areas being targeted throughout the draft:

WR
DE
NT (how high will depend upon if Tank is resigned)
Guard
Center

And of course a rush linebacker and maybe another inside backer.

I think it's too early to clearly know what our needs will be (you never know who'll step up throughout the year), but I'd like a WR in the early rounds that has the potential to be a #1, and a young QB to develop into a back-up.

we are going to HAVE to go inside linebacker on the first day....Burnett is a free agent and injury prone...Bobby Carpenter will not be on this team next year...Zach Thomas will retire either the next time he gets another concussion OR after next year regardless of health.

It's a sad situation with Carpenter. He looks like he should have been a 4th round pick. The only reason he is getting a rope this long is because he was a 1st round pick. But the guy is not physical enough to be an every down line backer in the NFL. That really hurts!

I think we will draft an ILB high next year.

I still think we will pick up a 3rd QB this year to groom behind B Johnson (i.e., Simms perhaps). And I think we will extend C Canty later this season.

Also, while we may draft a WR next year, I don't think it will be a high priority as JJ will get a guy like R Williams next off-season.

Other than ILB, my guess is we draft another interior OL fairly high as well in 2009.

I believe we will honestly say that we don't need to fraft a Wide Receiver with our first round pick because there is no talant deserving of being drafted that high. then we will not draft one in rds 2 or 3 because they won't be able to help us that year... Or at least that is what we have been doing.

My choice at the end of the first round, as of right now, would be...

Kenny Britt, Rutgers (WR) - 6-4, 205, JR .... 2007 Statistics: 62 receptions, 1,232 yards (19.9 ypr), 8TD

or...

Duke Robinson, Oklahoma (OG) - 6-5, 330, SR

I'll get back with you in March. For now I'm just ready for some football

Actually the WR position will be loaded next year.

I would think an ILB or WR would be our 1st rd pick but I want be surprised if we pick a OG if Mcq/Berger struggle and Kosier isn't himself once he returns.
My choices for each position:
ILB
I didn't list Rey Mauluaga we have no shot at him.

James Laurenitis doubt he will be there when we pick but would be a nice pick up

Jasper Brinkley a tackling machine reminds me of Pat Willis

Darry Beckwith will be next years Jerod Mayo but should be there late.

Brian Robiske son of Terry Robiske(has coach in the league for over 20 years) a precision route runner with excellent hands.

Jeremy Maclin he would give us speed and big play ability.

OG
Duke Robinson at 6-5 335 pounds we would easily have the biggest most dominant line in football.

I know we're getting way ahead of ourselves...but yes...I think if a wr or two would have fallen to us this year (without us having to reach) I think we would have grabbed one.

Next year, if the right players are available inthe right slots (or are in fair trading range) the Boys may try to address wr depth and DE....maybe QB too.

Several problem areas may be developing which must be addressed. The 09 draft is touted to be good for WRs so I expect we use a high pick on a WR-- unless we trade for one. We'd still need add a quality WR unless Austin really steps it up this year and plays like he did during those preseason games.

Depth at OL also looks shakey. While Free is looking good as our future LT, we still got concerns at RT unless Colombo is resigned or McQuistan steps up his play. OTOH McQuistan hopefully wins out the LG to stand in up Kosier & maybe even shows enough to eventually replace Kosier. Of course Berger might also be in the mix.

Don't like Proctor as our backup to Gurode & Marten doesn't appear able to contribute anything this year so he's a long term project. So I'd expect us to at least draft an OG and/or C early to add some quality depth/future starters. Our OL does need to start getting young.

Have you heard of Michael Crabtree?

Damn fine WR from Texas Tech. The guy knows what to do with the ball once he makes the catch.

no more players from Ohio State.....I just find the Big Ten to be very overrated....give me the SEC all night and day

No arguments there, I'm a big SEC guy myself but some good players have come out of the big ten as well.
