oline is a must.idk about smith id prefera ballhawk. when cb/s get that big they lose quickness in hips etc.
Weight wasn't my guide, I assure you.Shinywalrus;2564435 said:I know everyone wants to get a big body to plug in at NT, and I know that (aside from Cody, who right now looks like he's going back to school) he's the only guy who catches the eye in the weight column, but that alone doesn't make Brace the answer, guys.
This is a guy who has been plagued all season by back "issues" and has never really been tested on double teams like so many other DTs like this coming out of school - he's been almost exclusively 3-tech and his colleague, BJ Raji, is in a different league: quicker, a great, leveraged uppercut initial punch that throws linemen off balance - Raji is actually double-teamed more and has still been much more productive.
Raji is a true NT. Brace is not. Don't let weight be the only guide, guys.
Raji is almost certainly out of our range, but let's not draft another Carpenter to pretend he's AJ Hawk.

I could play with more heart than Tank did.BrAinPaiNt;2564494 said:That's right...if weight was the guide many of us posting here would be walk ons for the NT spot.

I actually said he would start at NT and Ratliff would move to DE.

Shinywalrus;2564572 said:Fair enough, guys, but I frankly can't come up with another reason why Brace is more than a 7th round/UFA besides his size. He gets pushed around, blocked out of plays, has no pass rush moves, lets linemen get under his pads when double teamed, gets excited and penetrates past the play on zone blocks, and doesn't seem to know his lane assignments.
Yes, he's a solid college player and he has great physical tools and bulk at his disposal, and there's value there, but a #3 or #4 on a guy whose performance was driven heavily by the inability of mediocre competition to deal with his bulk and, more importantly, the beast lined up next to him?
I'm sure some of you simply have differing opinions, which is fine, but the skeptic in me and the part of me that got to see quite a few Eagles games up here in the northeast still says a lot of people are reading draft sites, sorting for the DT list, and looking at weights.
For what it is worth. I consult 2 to 3 Draft sites for every player I look at when I make a Mock Draft. Where I have them slotted is where the majority of those sites slot them. Since they overload their slots (in other words up to 40 players named for each round of 32) I sometimes slide them up or down a round.Shinywalrus;2564572 said:Fair enough, guys, but I frankly can't come up with another reason why Brace is more than a 7th round/UFA besides his size. For the record, I am not saying Raji is not better. I am saying Raji will be gone earlier. I believe he will go by the top of the 2nd round. I cannot magically put Raji in the slot where I have Brace.Zaxor;2564606 said:I got to watch 3 BC games and the Music city Bowl game in all 4 games Raji was by far the better player... despite like you said... being doubled the majority of the time

Brace is in the round he was slotted by all 3 websites I consulted as I started studying. No one has him in the 7th round except you. Doesn't mean you will be wrong and the 3 websites right. Players do fall. Just saying that I am not overpricing him by where he fell in my Mock.

although Hos, I bet you didn't consult that site about Holtzclaw, they peg him as undrafted
