Granted. If Raji is available at the top of the second, incidentally, I would consider that a gift from the gods.
Why? We don't have a pick until around 50 or 51? Or are you saying we'd trade up to the top of the 2nd to take him?

The player I would pee on myself to grab at the top of the 2nd is Duke Robinson at Guard.

Yeah, it would be a tradeup, probably lose the 4th and the 5th, or one of those and next year's 3rd.

I like Robinson a lot, I just don't know that the gulf between him and Herman Johnson is big enough to merit a tradeup - Raji, in my mind, is the last true NT prospect in the draft that could have any chance of starting the first season. Just a little easier to justify moving up, in my opinion.

I would always rather have a 10 year starter who could be an All Pro over a guy who is tops in his class but not likely to be tops at the next level. What I mean is, I think Robinson has the potential to be considered the best at his position in the NFL and Raji I don't see it. If I am going to trade up, and both are available. I'd take Robinson over Raji all day long.

Fair enough. I find it hard to be blown away by interior offensive linemen in college, personally. The good ones tend to look very, very good, because the speed and agility of the big bodies they're up against in the college ranks tend to be pretty sub-par.

Guards are just so tough to evaluate beyond the effects of raw strength and the ability to pull, prior to individual workouts.

From what I've seen, Robinson just hasn't looked much better to me than Johnson.

After watching the Virginia Tech game, though, I really felt like I hadn't seen a DT who would fit the Cowboy hybrid 1gap/2gap NT role quite like Raji, but there's no question he's not a no-risk prospect.

No, I didn't consult them.

The later we can get him the better. One of my favorite players in this crap. Can't wait to see the combines.

~memo to self... :write: reorder digital cable for the Combines then cancel it again.~

The only problem I have with your mock is that we're not drafting a DE. Instead of White as projected WR, which is a position that we don't need and we could address after the draft, we need to draft a DE, especially if Canty is not resigned.
