2011 Cowboys Grades... Felix Jones, Final Grade: C+ (2.26)

I'm sure Joker will give him in A+, but I'll give him a B.

Agree with this. Better than average, but nothing very special... he may have earned a better rating with more play time. Injuries have always slowed his progress and hand cuffed him realizing his potential. Gave him a B-minus.

I also believe he may be better suited to PLAY WR. Fewer risks for injury. Better odds for impact plays.

I gave him a B. I think Felix went into the season as the #1 and started off slow then got injured. I think watching Murray sparked Felix and he looked better when he came back. I like the combo with Felix and Murray and think the complement each other very well.

Yeah, like when he fumbled the ball at his own 5 yard line against the Giants? He gets injured all the time.. I'm so glad it happened in 2011 AGAIN because then it forced the Cowboys into giving the better RB the lead role, and wow did he Murray look amazing. A rookie that looked way better than Felix in his 1st freaking year. Doesn't fumble, and is much smarter than Felix. Doesn't run out of bounds to "stop the clock" when it's 4TH DOWN!! Also, doesn't run out of bounds when we need to bleed out the clock.. a la Felix.

Felix is just not a very bright player. Getting the ball 10 or 15% of the time is fine for Felix. He CERTAINLY is not an every down back though. I would rather trade him off for a defensive player.. but I also like the idea of him being a backup here. He is a lot more explosive when he doesn't have to carry the ball 20+ times a game. Give him 5-7 carries a game.

2011= D for me.

Yes he fumbled has fumbing been a big issue with Felix? I don't so. In terms of his carries I think he can handle 10 to 15 carries on avg. Now with Murray here he may not get that but I still like the combo of both he and Murray.

I am ever so thankful that most of you evaluate talent from your mother's basements rather than the Cowboys front office.

I'd give him a B-. I thought he looked a lot tougher toward the end of the season. Obviously Murray is the better back, but Felix (when healthy) is capable of a homerun at any time. He's pretty fast.

I give him a B. Got very little help from the OL early on. Played thru a shoulder injury. Not sure how you can fault a guy for how he injured his ankle. It's one of those things that just happens - very similar to how Murray got injured.

Grade Felix The Cat.

I gave him a B. his average YPC was very good. he just got hurt.

I tink he was better than average so I could not give him a C maybe a B- due to injury would be more fitting

You named one of the problems that I have with Felix . It shouldn't have took Murray to spark him . He didn't give 100% until he felt his role as a starter was threatened .

BOOM! Exactly right. These guys can't motivate themselves? Weak minded players.. WE HAVE A BUNCH OF EM.

I give him the same grade I gave Murray, B. Murray got to capitalize on the better blocking once Nagy got hurt, and we saw Felix do the same when he returned from injury.

I'm sure Felix will score much worse than Murray did, but the truth of the matter is that the offensive line and FB play was the difference maker.

Of course, it's sexier to think the RB's were the key, so I won't be surprised when Felix rings in with a C or D.

If Murray is getting 85 to 90% of the carries.. then I really like that combo too. I would still be fine with trading Felix for a stud on defense though and going with the Murray/ Tanner combo.

Completely disagree. I don't think you realize just how good Murray is.. but don't worry.. our coaches didn't either until Felix got hurt. The difference is they realized it and you still don't.

I don't think it was just a spark issue or lack of giving effort. I think the time he missed he watched and learned somethings he was seeing in Murray and even mentioned this himself. I hope these 2 can continue to learn and feed off each other.

Well depending on the trade I may be interested as well. As for Tanner I saw some glimps but nothing I'm sold on in terms of extended playing time. Not trying to knock him and I would think he will be competing in camp to hang on to the current role he has.

Sorry man.. I just strongly disagree with your statement of the FB and the offensive line being the difference maker between Felix and Murray. It struck a nerve with me. Murray looked like the much better back, he didn't fumble at all, (In his whole college career either) and he is a much smarter player than Felix. He also ran and picked up very tough yards to close out games. The coaching staff realized all of this and when Felix came back 100% healthy.. he turned into Murray's backup.. and with good reason.

Murray is a player to get real excited about going forward. He is going to be our Sean Lee on offense.
