2011 Cowboys Grades...Montrae Holland, Final Grade: C (2.01)

C- slighty below average . This was his best season as a Cowboy .

C.

Solid, was actually one of our better linemen, which shows how bad they were last year.

The entire interior of the O-line was a big disappointment to me.

Supposed to grade Holland, not the entire interior of the offensive line on one guy.

Well, to defend him, Holland has at times been big enough that he could be mistaken for the interior an offensive line.

Montrae Holland is a below average NFL lineman. For most of his career he's been a fat, lazy waste of space. We even cut him at the start of the season for being out of shape and lazy. Given, after we brought him back, he did an adequate job at guard, but the only reason he was starting is that the other options were worse. If we had better talent on the OL his proper role would be to add some depth to the roster, assuming that he would stay in shape.

So is he graded compared to the expectations of him going into the season? Then he would get a C. OR is he graded instead based on his talent and performance compared to others in the league at that position?

For me it boils down to this: The reason our line was below average last year was because of generally below average talent and performance.

D.

I gave him a C and feel I'm being a being a bit generous since it took getting cut before he figured out to getting in shape of part of the job in the NFL.

He did do well when he came back but this non sense needs to end. If you can't get yourself in shape and it becomes a yearly deal then I have no need for you

I admire that he was able to come back, get down his weight, and contribute. Overall though, he was average, so I gave him a C.

Ditto.

I wouldn't give you a bag of kicking tees for those three players.

I've had a bad day. Thanks for that.

I should clarify, I mean Kosier, Costa and Holland/Dockery. So actually four players.

I want to hang on to Nagy and Arkin. Even Kowalski too. They might develop.

Man, you all are tough. I thought he was solid. A solid C.

I may have given him a higher mark had he not came into the season out of shape once again and was brought back for the 7th game due to the injury to Dockery. I don't like players who put their team in this situation due to his own lack of work ethic. If he comes back next season should we expect him to come in to camp in shape? He has yet to do that

After reading this post , it made me realize that my C- should have been a D . Good job of reminding me of reality .

I thought he should get a D+ or C- so I went with a C. He did an OK job but was out too much.

Hmm I thought he was maybe slightly above average. Or maybe average with moments when he was really physically dominant but overall inconsistent.

Point being, C+
