First there is no benefit for being tall at guard. In fact a lower center of gravity would be a plus.

As for players I wouldn't mind wearing the star...possible 3-4 ends, a couple of Iowa DL Ballard 6' 5" 295 or Clayborn 6' 4" 285. Both would need to add some bulk but I can see both being 3 down players.

Ballard is too tall to play 3-4 DE.

Clayborn is too short.

The links I posted show that Blaclock measured 6-3 at the Combine and Bernadeau measured 6-3 at his Pro Day.

Do you think the Scouts that measured them were interested in getting accurate measurements.

I prefer shorter interior linemen because they can get better leverage and don't obscure the QBs vision as much. A 6'-3" guard with his legs bent is just about the right height for a 6'-2" QB.

Bottom line, there are plenty of fine NFL guards that are 6-3 or under.

Best line of this whole thread was the comment about Ballard being too tall and Clayborn being too short. Hilarious. I'm sure the irony was missed by some however.
