1 st pick or trade back into the first

Michael Brewster, C, Ohio State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 293.
Projected 40 Time: 5.08.
Projected Round (2012): Top 25 Pick.

8/20/11: Mike Brewster enters his senior year as the top center in the nation.

He started as a freshman and has been a standout for the Buckeyes ever since.

Brewster will be challenged with the turmoil at Ohio State. He will have to quickly get in tune with a new quarterback to take his snaps, and offensive tackle Mike Adams will be suspended for the first five games. Thus, some new challenges are in store for Brewster, but nothing that should hurt his draft stock. Brewster is an excellent run blocker and pass protector. He looks like the next center that is likely to crack the top 25.

an let the youngins fight it out for OG

I like Brewster as a center but its way to early to say that dallas will need a center round one.

There are going to be several CBs and ILBs to choose form as well and also OGs.

I'm not a fan of Costa but he might be the real deal.

Way to early to tell. You should take a look at Ben Jones if you want a center in the draft.

hey thanks for the tip

Ben Jones, C, Georgia
Height: 6-3. Weight: 300.
Projected 40 Time: 5.17.
Projected Round (2012): 2-3.

8/20/11: Ben Jones broke into the starting lineup as a freshman and has locked down the position for Georgia. He had excellent seasons in 2010 and 2009 to establish himself as one of the top centers in the SEC.

Jones is a very good pass blocker, and a strong run blocker.

For teams that like bigger centers over the smaller more mobile types, Jones could be an option to add some bulk and be a power center in the NFL

very nice - I will have to watch him this fall

I mean since were going this young why not add a real center

both are very good college centers but Brewster is more in line with direction we seem to be headed with our offensive line.

It's still early but Brewster is probably my number one pet cat for the 2012 draft.

There is no telling right now where Dallas will be picking or who will be available so I'm not going to sit here and say Dallas is going to get a center. They can go Center, OG, safety, ILB, DL, or CB. It all just depends on how these players perform this year. This 2012 draft is going to be deep with good CBs and ILBs. The safety and 3-4 DL class as it is right now isn't so great. The OGs and centers are also pretty good in this coming up class.

I actually think this a great safety draft filled with late 1st/2nd talent. McDonald, Lester, Markelle Martin, Armstrong, Delano Howell. Even Janzen Jackson is a 1st round talent but will fall because of the red flags. Much better class than last years.

Also, NT Alamede Ta'amu from UW is a stud if we choose to go that route in the 1st round which I have a feeling we might based on how the run D has performed throughout preseason. Our future ILBs are more finesse guys who could thrive with a big man in the middle, and on the flipside will struggle with an undersized nose like Ratliff.

I just hope next year is a defense heavy draft for us and we let Rob start to get his guys to fit the system.

Personally, I think a Center in the 1st round is waaaay to early. Plus the Cowboys seem to be content with what we have seeing as how Gurode was cut. We have more pressing needs on defense. We need pass defenders that can tackle and make plays on the ball. The 2012 draft will be VERY deep at CB, so we can find really good value in the 2nd round.

I expect the draft to go something like this:

1st: S Robert Lester, Alabama
2nd: CB Casey Hayward, Vanderbilt / Jayron Hosley Virginia Tech
3rd: DE Melvin Ingram, South Carolina

I'm pretty confident that our first draft pick next year will be used on a CB unless the value just is way off and we can't trade towards the value vs who is on the board. I think the only way we don't take a CB is if there's a monster DL there....

After hearing Jerry's comments about corner tonight, I am sure CB will be a high priority in the draft.

no matter what CB should be a 1st or 2nd round pick this draft. This draft is going to have alot of good CBs and ILBs. I would trade up to get one of each in the 1st round depending one where Dallas drafts and whos available. It is a long ways a way and there is a season to play first.
but right now ILB, CB. safety, Center, OG and 3-4 DE, and NT are the postions Dallas should target.

If Mike Jenkins can play well this year, I doubt we go CB in round 1. Terrence Newman will likely be released, but with Orlando Scandrick already signed, we can likely draft a CB in round 2 that may eventually bump Scandrick down to #3 or we may grab a cheap veteran to be the #3.

As far as safety goes, unless one falls in our lap, I doubt we draft one early. IMO, we'll resign both starting safties to long term contracts (4 years or so).

If Spencer has a good year, we'll likely resign him (and Victor Butler), all but eliminating the need to draft a LB in rounds 1-3 (need ILB depth to replace Brookings and Brady).

I also believe all of the offensive skill players are fine (as far as rounds 1-3). RB, fine. WR, may want a veteran #3, but fine. TE, even if we lose Bennett, we have Phillips, so fine. QB, McGee probably takes over as #2, so we'll draft another project, but we're fine there too.

I really see our first round needs as O-Line and D-Line. *If* we get lucky on the D-Line and Ratliff returns to form and Hatcher is a consistent pass rusher, then I wouldn't mind drafting a guy like Brewster in round 1.
