Pau is an idiot if he wants to go to Chicago. Rose is probably out for the entire 2012-2013 season so they'll just be another 1st round exit that's if they even make the playoffs at all. Indiana or Philly would be a better destination for him.

I have thought for some time that Chicago was the best trade destination for Gasol. Rose wants Gasol in Chicago and apparently Gasol wants to be in Chicago. Trades are not always about the best fit. A lot of times, especially with bigger contracts, it's about who you can make a trade with. I guess we'll see where this goes.

You play championships every year. Besides, I have not heard that Rose is out till 2013-14 season. I have heard that he's likely out till late in the 2012-13 season. Chicago is a good young team. While I think we saw that Chicago needs Rose in order to win it all, with CJ Watson, the Bulls were more then able to win their division. If I'm Chicago, I might plan on Watson or another PG FA until Rose gets back and still add Gasol. Now, that doesn't mean I wouldn't entertain other trade partners. I'd be OK with Houston, I just don't know that they would be willing to make that same kind of trade. A lot of that Houston trade was based on cap space. That may no longer be a necessity for Houston. I would not be opposed to that trade but would Houston still want to make that trade, I don't know.

its the leastern conference, the bulls will EASILY make the playoffs with pau as their best player. id say they will be at least in contention for a top 4 playoff spot. if they get, say, the fourth seed, play a team like the knicks or hawks of this year, they could easily win that series. the doctors said Rose will be out a minumum of 8 months and a max of 12 months, so even if its the worst case scenario, he will be back for a second round matchup. I think he will be back around march, though. That is, if they do trade for pau or another good player and stay in the playoff hunt, if not, they will just shut him down for the year and suck for a good pick.

having said that, if im the lakers id rather make a trade for the houston players (any combo of martin, gasol and lowry) than anything the bulls could realistically offer, but we will just have to wait and see.

If I was Pau I'd wanna be traded here in San Antonio or to OKC. Those are clearly the two best teams in the West right now and will be next season as well. As a Laker fan I'd be more interested in a deal with the Spurs because they have insane depth that we could use. I would do this in a heartbeat.
