2012 Lakers Thread

If I was Pau I'd wanna be traded here in San Antonio or to OKC. Those are clearly the two best teams in the West right now and will be next season as well. As a Laker fan I'd be more interested in a deal with the Spurs because they have insane depth that we could use. I would do this in a heartbeat.

Sessions/Neal
Kobe/Jackson
MWP/Ebanks
Splitter/Bonner
Bynum/Hill

But are the Spur or OKC interested in trading with us? I mean, at the end of the day, you have to have two teams willing to trade or your just wasting time.

Unfortunately it appears that the Spurs are the best team in the West this year. Looks like my Thunder aren't going to quite make the Finals again. :(

I think the Spurs would as long as they wouldn't have to give up one of their top guns like Parker, Gino, or Duncan. OKC doesn't really have anybody that we want outside of their big 3.

I don't think so, at all.

Why strengthen your competition when you have what appears to be a stranglehold on the Conference?

Because you strengthen yourself. If they add Gasol without giving up any of the big 3 they become much better.

i think pop would trade for gasol IN A HEART BEAT if he didnt have to trade any of the big 3 or leonard

I'm just glad this season is over for the Lake Show.

Hopefully we make a few more changes for next year and regroup.

Ramon Sessions to test market

By Dave McMenamin | ESPNLosAngeles.com

LOS ANGELES -- If the Los Angeles Lakers want to keep Ramon Sessions as their point guard of the future, they will have to make a long-term commitment to him.

Sessions chose against exercising the final year of his contract to stay with the Lakers next season and will explore the free-agency market, his agent said Tuesday.

Not a smart move all by Ramon. I like the kid alot, but he's not gonna get any more money than he was getting after his horrendous showing in the playoffs. I fully expect him to be back. The Lakers can ill afford to let him go since the only other point guard they have under contract next season is Steve Blake.

I think it depends on if the Lakers believe they can get a PG they covet in the off season but yeah, I would not be surprised to see him back with the Lakers next season.

I've been told that the #Lakers are working on a long-term deal with Ramon Sessions

Looks like the Lakers plan on bringing him back. Ramon is a very good player just not sure if he's a championship caliber starting point guard.

He isn't.

That team is in for dark days when Kobe's gone.

I really don't think so. Once Kobe's massive contract is up the team will have aton of capspace to sign a star or two. LeBron could opt out after the 2013-2014 season. Wouldn't be shocked at all if James signed with us assuming he has a ring by then.

I love Kobe (My favorite player ever along with Kobe), but this notion that they're in a for a dark period or whatever after he retires is absolutely false.

Not at all.

Team will have almost all their cap available and will land a star or two.

Bulls post-Jordan. Book it.

i think there will be dark days once kobe retires or declines considerably, but this IS the nba, and there ARE the lakers, their "OH, THE HORROR!!!" period doesnt last longer than, like, 5 years, ever. by 2020, they will be competing for titles once again with some players they didnt draft.
