If I want to mock you for being a frontrunner (other than being a Cowboys fan), I'll do so...
You freakin' frontrunner, you...

Good. Adios. Yankees suck.Cowboys&LakersFan;4548533 said:Rivera tore his ACL and is likely done for the year.
Dang that stings. he sure is a front runner. Makes True Cowboys fans look bad. He is the reason we are so hated. Lakers,Yankess and cowboys. Ok lets pick the popular teams. lol. He gets a pass cause hes a kid though.Sam I Am;4548774 said:Yeah, but being a front running means your shallow, your personal character lacks depth. How do you expect to have a *meaningful* relationship with someone if you lack character?
Let me ask you something. Have you ever taken pride in your work? (That was a rhetorical question as I already know the answer. The point of the question is an attempt to get you to reflect on yourself. Self-reflection is the only way a man can improve himself, without it he has nothing to go on.)

Sam I Am;4548854 said:Technically true, but that perspective doesn't give the whole truth. Most of their starting positional players aren't home grown. Of this years starting nine, only Jeter, Cano, and Gardener are home grown. Granderson, Rodriguez, Teixeira, Swisher, Ibanez, and Martin were all signed as agents.
When you pay as much for free agents as the Yankees do, (especially failed ones) it's hard to not fill your bench with home grown players. If they didn't, their annual payroll would be $300+ million.
ABQCOWBOY;4548910 said:This is not really fair NYC. Heck, look at Texas, Murphy is from Boston, Hamilton came up with Cincy, Cruz came up with the Brewers, Beltre came up with the Dodgers, Napoli with the Angles. Lewis started in Texas but was acquired from Oakland after having played in Detroit. Darvish came over from Japan and Nathan started in SF.
Only Moreland, Kinsler and Andrus are home grown and not FAs. I think that if you look around the league, this is what you are going to find.
Sam I Am;4548926 said:I said nothing about Texas. You did. I was just pointing out the flaw in what was stated about the Yankees.
By home grown, I'm talking about players raised to the majors by a specific team. (to stay, no end of year bring up)
Nelson Cruz, David Murphy, Michael Young, Ian Kinsler, Mitch Moreland, and Elvis Andrus rookie season were as Texas Rangers. (rookie season as stated by the MLB. Which is 130 at bats or 50 innings pitched in a season) So that said, Texas has twice as many players in the starting lineup that were home grown compared to the Yankees and MOST of the Rangers starting lineup are in fact home grown. (ie, not free agents)
ABQCOWBOY;4548966 said:That's correct, you made the point that the Yankees buy their talent and I made the point that I felt most teams do this now. As example, Texas, your favorite team I believe, is the same way. You can justify them any way you wish but the fact remains that only three starters are not FAs on that roster. It's everywhere in Baseball. That's just a fact.
Sam I Am;4548990 said:Free Agent. Think about the definition of that a minute. Then review the Texas Rangers starting lineup. Then tell me how many "free agents" the Texas Rangers signed that were not a Texas Ranger before they became free agents. (ie, not resigning their own FA players)
Now. How many did you find? By my count: 2
Mike Napoli and Adrian Beltre. They rest were NOT signed as free agents. Six of the nine were Texas Rangers in their rookie season. The one that wasn't a rookie as a Ranger or signed as a free agent was Josh Hamilton who was traded for.
So, the Rangers bought two of their nine players in their starting lineup. Or 22% of their starting lineup.
Sam I Am;4549205 said:Obviously I won that debate. :laugh2:
ABQCOWBOY;4549224 said:But you win all of them don't you NYC? Sure, if it makes you feel better to believe as such, then sure. It's Friday and I want nothing more then for you to go home and be in a good mood with your family. You won.
