2013 Drafts shows that Bryant was a steal

Dez is so much better than any of these other receivers out in the draft. Most of these guys look like they will be lucky to be #2 receivers, where as this guy looked like a pro bowl/hall of fame candidate in his junior year.

I'm really glad that we traded up to get him. I wish that Austin would step back into the role that we thought he would fill when we signed him to that contract, but at this point he is what he is.

I'd love to get another receiver who could potentially be our number 2 when we part ways with Austin. I think we already have a lot of 3rd receiver candidates, but I don't think any of them are really looking like a #2 guy.

Jerry caught a lot of flack for getting Dez, but it was a genius move in the end. I hope the Claiborne move turns out as well, I'm not sold yet.

It was a gamble and it had some bumps with a lot of the fans throwing logs on the fire but it has definetely paid off. The guy is crazy good.

I think the Cowboys have built themselves a good foundation in the locker room and they can afford to sprinkle in some of these guys with character issues.

I think Claiborne will be just fine and your right that Dez was a steal considering he was rated Top 5 if it wasn't for his off-the-field issues. If Austin can healthy(Big if) then he'll be here as long as he doesn't get stupid money-wise and Harris could potentially develop into a #2 but I don't know if it'll happen.

Good thing we didn't trade him for his pants falling down in the mall as some suggested.

I'm a fan of Dez Bryant, however I think it's still a bit premature to anoint him and say a statement like "in the end" as the end is not even written yet , in fact we barely have scratched the beginning / middle. I am hopeful that Dez continues to improve and become a top tier go to guy who makes smart in game career decisions while fighting for those extra yards...
I believe he will and we will then be able to say "good move Jerry"
(I already can , but most Jerry haters probably never will)

Agree w/ GB

This a really great draft for WRs beginning, value-wise, from late 1st round through the 5th round.

But at this stage, there are no Dez Bryants (or Julio Jones, or AJ Greens...).

There's so many good ones (but all with wartsd), and many with big upside, we may have someone emerge as truly great in 2-3 years.

But at this stage...nobody is Dez what Dez was.

It's always been inevitable that he was going to be a beast if he could just stay healthy.

Some people argued against it just to argue because they didn't like that he was sagging at the mall and such.

He'll pretty much have to sabotage himself to not be an NFL success.

It was the right move for both the cowboys and the patriots, the patriots drafted mccourty and aaron hernandez with those picks.

Any Patriots fan will tell you that they made a mistake. They all want Dez Bryant.

I know I'd rather have Dez than those 2 guys...though Hernandez is a pretty underrated player.

We got the Dez pick (24th) and a 4th rounder for our first and a 3rd rounder, which they picked Taylor Price with.

The Pats moved down from 22 to 24 earlier in the round which is where the 4th for Hernandez came to be.

Well let's don't kid ourselves. If it wasn't for the potential off the field issues with Dez he would've been drafted hire and had he not missed a year of college football he would've been a top 10 if not top 5 pick. Most people had him as top 5 talent-wise even missing the year of football. I don't think anyone is shocked Dez has become as good as he has.

The one disappointing thing about the trade was that the Cowboys had Navarro Bowman as a 1st round value and he was still there with that 3rd round pick.

You need to read the Zone more.

The NE offense would've been too complicated for Dez to learn. Look at all the WRs that had trouble there... Chad Jackson, Chad Johnson, Brandon Lloyd, etc. I love Dez but he wouldn't have been a good fit in NE, he would've driven Belichek nuts.

The man is right. In terms of route running Moss is as intelligent as they come, Belichick actually called him the smartest WR he has ever coached or met.

Remember, it took Dez 2 and a half seasons just to figure out how to run routes properly and be where he's supposed to be. How soon we forget :)

Just for the record I'm not trying to bash Dez, just saying he wouldn't be a great fit with New England.

And while Randy Moss is lazy he's not dumb. He's a lot smarter than he lets on.

I think Dez's recent turnaround says a lot about the people he is surrounded by on a daily basis in Valley Ranch.
