It usually takes a wr a year or two. But let's not pretend he didn't play well until last year.

Demaryius Thomas aint shabby either. He was 2 picks ahead of Dez.

Bring up the "Stephen on the Phone" thread to see how excited I was when we drafted Dez at 24.

Dez dropped inthe draft due to off field issues & maturity issues but football fans saw the potential Dez Bryant had and was just a matter of him getting his life in order at the next level.

Thomas is excellent.

He and Dez would both rate higher than the WRs this year, imo.

Stats don't tell the whole story. Romo did not fully trust Dez until late last season.

Perfect example... first game of the 2011 season vs. the Jets Dez makes the wrong route adjustment and Romo gets intercepted by Revis late 4th quarter. That play decided the game. The media blamed Romo for that but in reality it was Dez's fault. Thankfully, the light bulb has clicked on for Dez and it seems like those plays are a thing of the past.

Funny. Now he was a steal.

Dude Put up (i believe 18) TDs in his first 2 seasons in approximately 23 games and people were ready run him out of town because he was a wasted talent. Receivers take 3 years to develop and he was ahead of schedule as far as pay dirt goes.

People are so fickle.

Are you sure out off all the people that post here, the before and after opinions you speak of are from the exact same people?

My guess is that the haters are just quiet now.

He definitely had some holes in his game but he was still making plays. They are trying to claim he couldn't develop in the NE Patriots system. That it would be too complicated because he had trouble with the Cowboys system. But really he was making progress the whole time and had production. The Patriots (some of the guys that were mentioned above) had some guys that flat out couldn't play a lick or had a washed up veteran.

Dez is so much better than any of these other receivers out in the draft. Most of these guys look like they will be lucky to be #2 receivers, where as this guy looked like a pro bowl/hall of fame candidate in his junior year.

I'm really glad that we traded up to get him. I wish that Austin would step back into the role that we thought he would fill when we signed him to that contract, but at this point he is what he is.

I'd love to get another receiver who could potentially be our number 2 when we part ways with Austin. I think we already have a lot of 3rd receiver candidates, but I don't think any of them are really looking like a #2 guy.

Jerry caught a lot of flack for getting Dez, but it was a genius move in the end. I hope the Claiborne move turns out as well, I'm not sold yet.

I was just watching Dez Bryant's draft on YouTube, man I love this guy so much. Incredible talent and passion for the game, we are so lucky to have him on our squad.

Anyways imagine if New England didn't trade back with us and took Dez with the 1st instead of Mccourty and Gronk with the 2nd. Dez and Gronk back to back would be insane. This is also more proof in why you draft by BPA and not need.

I agree with GB. Too early to be certain although you have to be excited about the guy. And I think this is a good draft for WRs and there's a few I'd love to have.

Remember, it took Dez 2 and a half seasons just to figure out how to run routes properly and be where he's supposed to be. How soon we forget :)

Just for the record I'm not trying to bash Dez, just saying he wouldn't be a great fit with New England.

And while Randy Moss is lazy he's not dumb. He's a lot smarter than he lets on.
I think it was more maturity than it was not running routes properly. It seemed like his mindset was, "I can make the catch so I don't need to run this route perfectly 'cause i'm a playmaker" then he made mistakes 'cause of it and i'm sure Romo got on him all the time about it plus the positive influences of Romo, Witten, Ware, Spears, etc. that helped mold and mature him.

Thomas is a great WR but i'll take Dez and Decker over him all day.

Dez has all pro talent, not in dispute.

It is his 5 cent head I worry about.

He has had 1/2 of a good season. Lets not go overboard yet.

I am cautiously optimistic about Dez.

If he dedicates himself and doesn't get injured the sky is the limit.

I think he has turned the corner.

Does anyone know if he still has the team of baby-sitters assigned to him and whether or not the "Dez Rules" re: curfew, etc are still in place?

1/2 a good season? That's way overboard. He's been good since he's been in the league. He was great the last half of last season.

Too early to label the pick definitively but if you had to right now you'd have to call it a home run.

:laugh1: he's a different man now hope it continues.
