2013 NFL Over/Under Win Totals: Cowboys Set At 8.5 Wins

Like last year, the Vegas bookmakers are not high on the Dallas Cowboys, and have the early over/under for the Cowboys set at 8.5, the exact same value as prior to the 2012 season. Those 8.5 wins wouldn't just have the Cowboys out of the playoffs, but would also have them finishing third in the division behind the Commanders and Giants (both 9 wins) and ahead of the Eagles (6.5). The Eagles of course were tipped to win the NFC East last year with a 10-win over/under, but they fell slightly short of that win total.

I can see that.

I'm going with 10-6 this year. Health and OL improvement can get us 2 more wins than last year.

I'm going with 12 - 4. There are lots of factors that have improved from last year:

1. Musical chairs on the O-line will not be an issue in the last half of the season.

2. New defensive scheme will keep Ware rushing the passer, and not chasing fullbacks out of the backfield.

3. Spencer will be more focused on rushing the passer.

4. Ratliff will be more flexible in shooting the gaps.

5. Claiborne will pick up where he left off last year, and grow from that.

6. Better depth at safety.

7. Defensive scheme is going to be more basic.

8. Bryant is going to be a stud all year, not just the last half of the season.

9. Escobar is going to be a bigger contributor than expected.

10. Romo will have more control of the offense.

11. Running game will be more ofan impact.

Seeing as this team is 116-116 in its recent history, they are really going out on a limb with this prediction.

That looks like easy money. The Cowboys have an extremely easy schedule compared to years past and it's also laid out much more in their favor. And last year was the worst when it came to injuries, should be a big difference this year.

There are no easy NFC wins and the AFC is abysmal. Betting Pittsburgh under 10 and New Orleans over 9.5 looks like the best bet on the surface, but there are just no bad quarterbacks in the NFC.

I'd love to see Seattle get another 1/2 game before the end of the summer and bet the under. I love Russel Wilson and Beast Mode, but the right side of their offensive line is simply not good. I expect them to come down to earth a bit.

Not impressed with Carson Palmer and Josh Freeman, but I agree the NFC is very tough compared to the AFC.

Not really, I see the eagle being improved, the giants having a bounce back year. The Saints will be better as well, the nfc north is a good division, and at kc and san diego won't be easy. Not an easy schedule at all.

Anyone going to Vegas soon to place a bet?

I don't think even cowboys fans are that foolish. This team will struggle for wins. Their only saving grace is a watered down schedule.

I think they will be lucky to win 4 games.

I hope I'm wrong, but 8-8 looks to be the results this season.

Until they break the cycle of .500 ball, it would be difficult for me to think this team has turned a corner.

Show me, Garrett.

If I was forced to bet, I'd take the over as of today.
9-7 should be doable at the very least. But there are no automatic wins in this league.

Seriously?

In the 6 seasons that Romo has started the majorty of the games, they've had winning seasons 4 of them, .500 seasons twice, and losing seasons zero times.

2006=9-7
2007=13-3
2008=9-7
2009=11-5
2011=8-8
2012=8-8

Uh, no....

I actually have a very good feeling about this years squad.

:star:

I thought that was out of character for you, but I'm doing other stuff here at the same time and thought I'd ask.

I know there's a lot of "17 years of failure talk", and the ongoing .500 record stuff.

But really, in games when Romo is starting, the team has been 55-38.
Way, WAY above .500 on average.

I see all lot more reasons for the team to get better vs last year than get worse.
No idea how much better that will be though.

If people would take a look at the team that Garret took over, and the team as it is starting to shape of as of today?

I have a really good feeling about this years team.

Now, staying healthy last year, the Cowboy may have done some damage, but the defense broke down, along with some other moving parts, INCLUDING ROMO (for his haters)...but I really like the direction that his team has taken this year with the new coaching staff, bringing in some good draft picks, and Jerry FINALLY GETTING HIS EYE FIXED (for the Jerry haters).

;)
