It's early but this yrs crop not looking bad. Martin was a home run. Hitchens can play and thank goodness we have him with our depleted lb corp. pattmon has made an impact ( free agent pick up)and now if Dlaw can step up. Looking like a solid draft

Looking that way but way too early to confirm.

It is really hard to admit the huge mistake with Claiborne, and how costly that pick is showing in 2014. He is Mike Jenkins version II cost twice as much and IMO will not have a pro bowl selection to his name.

But, but, Hitchens was an UDFA according to some guys who write blogs.

Someone really should dig up the Hitchens hate posts from this offseason. Dude got crapped on all offseason and looks like hes definitely a hit for a 4th rounder.

Hitchens has surprised. He hits hard and has good instincts. Like what I've seen out of him.

That's what I like to see out if a rookie . Good instincts for the game and desire to play hard. You expect a rook to be overwhelmed at times and hitch has been at times but you got to believe he will get stronger and better. Hope to see the same out of Dlaw . Martin plays like an all pro. Can't believe that kid is in his first season and playing with a foot issue

Hitchens is an NFL backer. He was a good draft pick.
Not sure what his ceiling is but his ability to play sudden and certain was clear Sunday.

I heart McClay.

Yeah I don't know that he'll ever be a superstar, but he certainly belongs on a roster. Good call by the team.

I agree, looking good so far. Other than the huge Claiborne bust, this team has drafted pretty well the past few years.

At least Jenkins had stretches of being a very good CB. Claiborne has been ok at best at times and not so good otherwise.

To the OP's point, the class is looking good so far. Martin is a home run. Hitchens is already a contributor and should be a future starter. How Lawrence develops can turn a good class into a great one.

Demarcus Lawrence flashed some yesterday. He should only get better as he gets more playing time. It was refreshing so see a DE actually aplying pressure. Don't forget Coleman and Patmon as part of this class as they beat out draftees to make the roster. Coleman should see more PT with Crawford out.

Yep. He's a perfect example of why you can't jump all over a pick too early. I didn't like the pick when it was made, and I didn't like the way he looked in his college reel or in training camp, honestly. But he's become a solid player who diagnoses plays well and gets himself where he should be. He's even been a play maker on a few of those TFLs and along the goal line a time or two.

Randle is another one who came into the league looking slow and like he couldn't play. He's in timeout right now, but I'm happy to admit he looks a lot better in his second year to me than I ever thought he would. A lot quicker through the line, and not as slow as I thought he was once he gets into the open field. He's got nice wiggle to him, too, that makes him deceptively hard to tackle.

Sometimes, NFL scouts know what they're seeing, and NFL coaches actually can develop players for you. It's nice to see us doing it more regularly finally.

EVERY CB drafted in round 1 this past 5 years has had bad games and has had fans blasting him at some point.
PP was a bum after the Denver game and was rough his rookie year as well.
Revis was torched after falling from shutdown status.

CB get beat and get insulted. It happens.

Mo is a good Cover CB. He is no where near a complete football player yet but he was drafted for his ceiling.
Chances are good he will be fine long term if not ever truly worth the 6th overall selection. ---very few players ever are.

Mike Jenkins has started over 60 games in his career in a position where you gotta carry 4 guys to every game. He was a "solid" draft pick.

Felix Jones was the "bad" pick. he only "played" in 50 games total for his career and played a position where teams routinely get by with mid round picks.

Hitchens was very productive while at Iowa. He produced every year while in college. Yes, his measurements aren't necessarily the prototype for the position, but the guy has a nose for the ball, and can finish hits. Once you hit the third day of the draft, you see where draft boards and draftniks are not necessarily aligned.

I also thought the pick was horrible. I thought he was too small and too slow and would have lasted till the 7th round. I'm glad Im wrong for once. Yeah I was one of those that bashed that pick. I admit it. But now i'm pleasantly surprised.

Everyone of our defensive coaching staff have done a marvelous job. We must find anyway possible to keep them here in Dallas. This includes Eberflus and Henderson and not only Marinelli. They have done wonders with the talent we have now and played like a top defense in the league.

Streets is the guy I'm more disappointed in. There's only one football so I didn't expect much but it seems he's been getting more and more looks as the weeks go on and he can't even get a ball his way and when he does its a poor pass. I guess I'm not disappointed in him per se just disappointed he can't even show any flashes.

Never liked him. I thought he ran good routes but was quick or physical and no real threat after the catch

How is he Mike Jenkins? Jenkins was a good corner who, if we would have kept him, we wouldn't have had to waste a year of the draft and free agency on CB. Jenkins and Scandrick would have been a solid duo who would have allowed us to address other areas of the defense. I don't see how anyone can compare Claiborne, a bust who never did anything, to Jenkins, a solid starter who made a Pro Bowl.
