For all you conspiracy theorists that think Gordon, Johnson /Hendricks cars, Patrick or who ever get extremely convenient yellows or other advantages what do you think will happen with the #3? As a Nascar conspiracy guy myself I think Nascar will make sure the #3 is front and center all year.

I am not usually a conspiracy theory kinda guy but it is getting pretty obvious that Nascar is manipulating results. It is kinda hard to do on the normal tracks because driving skill has too much to do with results but the restrictor plate tracks are 95% car and could easily be swayed with 'special' parts.
After seeing Danica get the pole last year and then show she was not even close to top level talent and now RCR all of the sudden being fast again now that the 3 is in the field it looks like Nascar is becoming more and more made for tv entertainment and less about racing. I guess I will just have to focus more on open wheel racing now and leave the stock cars to the reality tv fans.

My interest in NASCAR seems to be slowly dying. Not sure why, just is. I used to watch every race until football season started, but now I just don't care if I miss a race. I think NASCAR has gone downhill.

Too many robot drivers, everybody's the same, we had Kyle Busch for the fans to hate for a while but Nascar stepped on his throat. Jr's too busy being Jr to care a whole lot. Tony Stewart will at least talk about kicking someone's *** every once in awhile, of course he won't do anything but at least he'll talk about it. Jimmy Johnson winning all the time and having the personality of dirt has just killed Nascar and they know it. Now we have Ty Dillon, Richard Childress' grandson driving the #3 and wearing a cowboy hat, Nascar is going to prop this kid up like crazy.

Its just not the same as it once once. I know it sounds like a typical old timer, but something is lacking. Its steadily declined since Dale Sr. was killed. Like others I dont really care now if I miss a race. Dont watch it much anymore.

I was thinking of going to the duels on Thursday but they switched the start time to 7 pm. Its always been a day race and it was great. A 7 pm race wasnt worth the effort to go. Get home too late. Seems every change NASCAR makes isnt one I find beneficial.

I'll watch the 500 tomorrow but wont regret staying home instead of going. I used to go to Speedweeks every year but havent been in 7 years. The 500 seemed to trend toward a boring race. At over $1200 for a pair of tower seats for the 4 days its just not worth the money IMO. It sux because it used to be a great time.

I think the car is less important at plate races where you get and need help with the draft.

Danica getting the pole had to do with car though. That's one car out by itself qualifying. She had the car and engine. All she had to do was keep her foot on the floor and steer. Any driver at the track could have completed that lap and I said so right after she won the pole. We had a thread here for awhile monitoring her pitiful performances after a couple of people thought she was some kind of special talent after her pole run. She's a fraud. Her only shot is in these plate races where everyone is packed together and the draft is key.

Do I think Nascar is helping certain drivers? Maybe with timely cautions but that's about it. They're not letting anyone use illegal parts. To me that's a cop out from fans who can't stand who is winning the races every week.

BTW, if Nascar wanted to help any driver it would be Dale Earnhardt Jr. That fraud in the 88 who is nothing more than a name. There are two dozen drivers in that series equal to and most often better than he is yet he's the most popular driver in the sport by a wide margin. If Nascar was in the business of creating desired results most beneficial to business, they do it to get Jr. in victory lane as much as possible.

I don't know what's so suspicious about the last two 500 poles. It's the easiest qualifying run a driver will ever make in that series and the Hendrick and RCR cars have always been stout at the plate tracks.

I think Richard and Kyle Petty would agree with your Danica assessment. Going fast is one thing. Racing is another.

I want you to be right because I am a fan of racing but the coincidences keep stacking up. I dont think that Nascar plays a part in who wins every race but I do think they can see a ratings grabber and do what they can to make it happen, it just happens too often.
The Daytona 500 after Sr. died Dale Jr had a car that was so fast that he did not even need drafting help to pull away from the pack. A few years later Dale Jr. brings back the 3 in a Nationwide race and guess what? Same thing. Your right in that any driver would have put Danicas car on the pole and her chances of actually winning the race were slim even in superior equipment but they did not need her to win the race, her winning the pole was enough and accomplished what they wanted it to. Same with Dillon.
It does not happen every race but it seems like anytime there is a chance for a storybook scenario to happen it always seems to magically happen for Nascar. Maybe they are just really lucky but it is getting harder for me to give them the benefit of the doubt.

When Jr won the Daytona 500 he and Tony Stewart were both way out front all day. Tony actually looked like the car to beat early on. Also, Jr had his run of 5 in a row at Talladega. He's always run pretty well on plate tracks and when DEI was dominating he and Michael always ran well on those tracks.

The witch killed the organization at DEI and for some reason Jr has never run as well. I always thot him going to Hendrick was a mistake and as far as winning goes, it was a huge mistake.

What the witch did to DEI is equivalent to pissing on her late husband's grave.

Yeah I meant the July Daytona race after Sr. died. And you're right about Teresa, that team was obviously built for Dale Jr. and he should have been able to carry the torch with the organization that shared his name. It sure didnt do much after he left.

http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cu...ads-many-think-jimmie-johnson-won-daytona-500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Jimmie Johnson's phone is blowing up -- and he's nowhere near Victory Lane.

Johnson is being hailed as the Daytona 500 champion all over the place -- he's trending on Twitter and even has friends congratulating him via text message -- despite the race being in a rain delay Sunday.

Fox Sports showed a replay of last year's season opener, the one in which Johnson won his second 500 and Danica Patrick made history by becoming the first woman to lead laps in "The Great American Race."

Fox ran a crawl across the bottom of the screen, saying the 2013 race is being shown while Sunday's race is being delayed because of rain. But thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of people failed to get the message.
