DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Jimmie Johnson's phone is blowing up -- and he's nowhere near Victory Lane.

Johnson is being hailed as the Daytona 500 champion all over the place -- he's trending on Twitter and even has friends congratulating him via text message -- despite the race being in a rain delay Sunday.

Fox Sports showed a replay of last year's season opener, the one in which Johnson won his second 500 and Danica Patrick made history by becoming the first woman to lead laps in "The Great American Race."

Fox ran a crawl across the bottom of the screen, saying the 2013 race is being shown while Sunday's race is being delayed because of rain. But thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of people failed to get the message.

I heard that this morning, how funny. Jr said he and Johnson got a good laugh last night as Jimmy was getting texted messages and twits on his victory.

Good to see Dale Jr getting off to such a great start on the season. After winning Daytona last week he turns around and post a 2nd place finish in Phoenix. Keep it going Dale!!!!

I dont really consider myself a Jr. fan because I rooted against his dad and some his fans can get pretty obnoxious. But it is pretty hard not to like the guy. If I had to pick one driver to have a beer with it would probably be him... Or maybe Danica depending on how much she loosens up after shes had a few.

For me I'm a Jr fan in large part because I was a very big fan of his dad.

I never liked him when he was racing but I hated it when he died in Daytona. Not only because of the loss but it also took a lot of the fun out of the sport for me when I didnt have a 'bad guy' to root against.

for many of us Jeff Gordon was the bad guy. Dale raced the way the sport was meant to be, he asked for no quarter and gave none as he would always say that is racing. Last thing a driver wanted to see in his rear view mirror was #3 the Intimidators closing in.

It doesnt look like much has changed. At least Justin Allagair is running cup this year and she has someone new to wreck with. I think Ricky was probably getting jealous as much as she was hooked up with Kvapil and Cassill last year.

Looks like Danica had a good day compared to her boss and teammates. Butt, that aint sayin a whole lot.

I was wondering the same thing. Compared to the endless Jerry sucks posts the criticism of Danica has been pretty tame

Luckily no one from Clint Boyer's crew was in the way when Danica left her pit and ran right into the back of his car two stalls ahead. Not bashing but she could have just freaking killed someone.

That was just odd. It had to be a light malfunction or the flag man would have been waving the yellow. Carl must be living right or God just likes Cheez-Its because the timing of that shower looked to me like divine intervention.

Perfect ending even tho one of the ugly brothers won the race. Jimmie and Jeffie had it going then Jimmie got the flat, and Bower bringing out the caution ruined it for Jeffie!

Bower's pretty good at costing Jeff races. I don't know if Jeff's tires would have made two more laps though.
