I actually don't agree with that assessment any longer. Dallas DL has gotten better. Lawrence is going to be player. Melton might be best DT in football right now. Crawford is on verge of being star player. You then add into that Josh Brent (who would have been a starter by now if not for accident). Dallas has real depth at DT and rookie DE who is trending up. That leaves 1 DE spot that can be addressed in draft or second tier FA that will compete with Selvie.

Now I think DB is Dallas biggest problem. Carr is nowhere near the player they signed from Chiefs. He doesn't play man or zone well and isn't physical. Moore is a nice back up CB but shouldn't be your starter. Mo is a reserve CB who should be fielding punts and kick off returns as his contribution. That leaves virtually no one for next year. I would promote Patmon to starter when he gets back and go heavy in draft for CB and release Carr.

He's solid but there's a guy down in buffalo that I'd give a 1st rounder for in a heartbeat . Just a dominant player .

If by "Cornerback Needed" you mean Louisville Free Safety Gerod Hollimon then yes, I agree.

5 CBs were drafted in the 1st round in 2014. CLev Gilbert, Chi Fuller, Cin Dennard, SD Verrett, and Den Roby.

Has Gilbert even cracked the starting lineup? I heard he hasn't been much this year so far.
Fuller has played well, probably the best of the bunch.
Haven't heard much about Dennard. Does he play much?
Verrett hasn't done much. He was injured a lot.
I think Roby just got his first INT last week against Oakland on a pitiful throw.

I have heard just a little on those 5 CBs. And out of the 5, it looks like Fuller is the only one worthy of starting material so far into their rookie seasons. Early yet. Anyone got any info on the 5 CBs and how they are doing so far? Tough t play Cb in the NFL especially as a rookie even if you are a 1st rd pick.

When I was looking at the various rookie midseason reports, Fuller and Verrett were the two who were most often mentioned. The word on Verrett was that he played very well early on in nickel and dime subpackages then got hurt, and that he may have actually been better in coverage before the injury than Fuller was.

Dennard has barely gotten on the field so far even in subpackges. Not a great sign for a first rounder.

Gilbert struggled a lot early in the season but has been coming on some the past few games. Sounds like a typical rookie learning curve, even for a high pick. Even Peterson struggled at corner for a lot of his rookie season.

Roby has played mainly nickel for Denver and it sounds like he's been pretty good so far. He's had a bunch of passes defensed.

We need to address CB for 2015/16 season I believe, since the quality of Mo's game is in question (and recovery from injury), and Carr may or may not be on the team next year with his salary (and current level of game play). I think for sure we will draft a CB in the top 3 rounds this year and will probably draft another as well in the later rounds IMO. Not to mention undrafted rookies.
I hate overpaying in free agency, but for the sake of starting to think on this, what CBs are scheduled to be free agents after this season?

I hear that. I've had enough of Carr watching his guy catch a pass without playing the ball. Against the Commanders he just watched Jackson catch that long ball at the 10. He had his head turned, looking at the ball and just watched it drop into Jackson's arms without doing a thing. He tackles for crap to. I'd rather they draft a guy and give Dez Carr's money.

Agreed. Taking a CB early is a good move. :D

Maybe not in round 1... But if a good value CB was there in RD 2 or 3, then I would consider it.

I'd still go DE in the first then CB as you suggested. Counting on Mo is like counting on Lee.

Heck the D needs all 7 picks and 2 FA pick ups to become viable and potent. We may be able to swing another O lineman in rd 2 or 3, but the rest should all be spent on the D. Lineman, LBer or secondary, dont really matter the order Time to build Doomsday part 2.

I would prefer not to pick the CB in the first round either. My first goal is to take BPA. But I am hoping we go pass-rushing DE in first, CB in 2nd and back to DL in 3rd. Address OL, S and RB in the next 3 rounds after that.

in the first round you have to hit so thats why it's so important to take bpa. now we all know that bpa does'nt mean just the best player but the best player who fills some need for you. that said picking dead last in the round it very well could be a rt we take. the need is there, the quality could very well be there. we need a edge rusher, cb, ot, maybe a rb if murray goes. but in the first rnd it's so important to get quality even if that is a position thats not your top priority. i don't think getting a top quality pass rusher late in the first is really an easy thing to do. they go fast as does good cb prospects
once we see who we keep and who we bring in from free agency then we will have a better idea of what we actually need

Florida State, Alabama, Miss St, Auburn and Ole Miss have some great players. I will take who they have coming out this year. Its time to draft Pedigree and bring in some real football players from power schools.

This year's draft will be stacked. I think this has the potential to be one on the strongest drafts ever. On paper, that is.
