We've seen mock ups, but this Mustang is quite sexy. It definitely has Aston Martin / Jaguar heredity. (even though it's after Ford sold them both)

Car and Driver says this is a reveal of the 2015 Mustang, but I'm not sure if this is still a mock model.

Either way, I will buy sports sedans, but I might buy this car at the right price. Damn sexy!

Finally, they get away from the over dependance on previous designs from other decades. Doing that is a proven recipe for failure. Creating something newer like this, is a much better idea. Now Chevy and GM need to take notice.

I think Mustang still lives in that design which IMO it keeps the Mustang's soul still alive.

I don't consider myself a buyer of a pure sports car anymore, but the physical feel of this car fells right, I would buy it if it worked right for my needs.

Looks too good to be true doesn't it? I would love it if it was the real deal.

It can live in that design all it wants but I'm pretty sure sales of mustangs have plummeted for years. This is a case of the very same thing the iphone is criticized about. Tweaking little things only works so much. The look gets tired.

Couldn't disagree more.

A failure? How many of those "old style" mustangs did they sell? How many Challengers have sold?

Yeah, the old style cars just look better than todays cars. I understand it's about aerodynamics, but the old "look" is still better IMO.

That looks like a lot more than a tweak to me.

Wow, I've never once looked at a Mustang and thought "hey, I'd buy that." But this one...that's nice.

It is a straight rip off of the Aston Martin, but oh well it's still pretty to look at.

Look up more pictures of it... (I posted some on a another board, can't remember where)

It's a 4-door, and the back is pretty ugly.

Yes, a failure. If all you plan on doing is recycling the same idea over and over it will eventually die and people will get sick of it. I mean it's only be what 50 years of doing that for mustangs?

I don't know how many have sold of either of car you've named above but I'd bet it's not even close to a competitive number.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? It seems like the generation that grew up with mustangs and had one when they were younger constantly talk about how they shouldn't change the look. They say the way it looked in the past is better. Yet, you never hear about those same people owning one or wanting a new one. They just say it shouldn't change and when Ford listens no one goes out and buys one. I'm pretty sure some of the cars sell but I don't think competitively. The best thing Ford could do is reinvent the mustang. There's a sweeping generational change and young kids don't care at all about what the past mustangs have looked like. That's just my opinion though.

Yes, 50 years. So obviously it works for them.

As far as the number, put your money where your mouth is.

Obviously you're taking this conversation personally. I don't even know what you're talking about when you say put your money where your mouth is.

Also, after a 20 second google search you'll find this years Mustang sales have been dismal.

I'm not sure why you're so offended by my opinion.

You seem to think that staying with the "old school" look is a bad idea despited the immense amount of success Ford and Dodge had by doing just that.

I have a 2010 Mustang. I'm kinda sad they're moving away from that classic look.

I'm not saying I dislike the new look, but still. :(

.

This year's mustang looks like arse. I hate the head lights and really the whole front end. They should have stuck with a more "old school" look, but they went a bit too modern and it cost them.

Same here. I hope dodge doesn't do that with the Challenger.

Wasn't the American Auto industry failing pretty recently? Those old school looks used to be the bread and butter. They aren't anymore. Nobody between the age of 18-30 wants one. Sorry to break the news to you. Like I said, the people who want the look to stay the same tend to be the people who grew up with them but they don't buy them.

From what I'm reading, this is still just an artist rendering. Nothing official yet.

Still though, I'd imagine it's not super far off. Another rumor is that they're finally putting an independent rear suspension in it and getting rid of the solid rear axle. That kinda makes me sad too. It's one of those throwback deals that the Mustang had that I kinda liked. :(

Uh...no.

Dodge nailed it with the Challenger. Chevy went too modern with the Camaro, and the Mustang wasn't half bad in 2005-2009.

This new design is nice enough, but perhaps they should call it something else.
