The NFC East was the strongest division in the NFL last year. All had good defenses and very good QBs. The difference this coming year appears to be who has the best defense. Depending on who looses whom in FA, a few good draft choices can make a difference in the Division Champion. Dallas is not projected to be a 13-3 team next year and unless they fix the pass rush will not be a division winner. The article below points out some of the issues of next season.

The strength of the East combined with the strength of our first place schedule will make 2017 a tough year.

Another reason why this year was such a wasted opportunity. A tough division is only going to get tougher and add a 1st place schedule and they may not even make the playoffs yet alone earn home field.

The FO can't sit on their hands this year.
I was wondering if we could at least wait until after the Super Bowl before we start speculating on the Cowboys not making the playoffs next year.

What does the Super Bowl have to do with it? We're not playing. It's not too early for this team to look at next year since this one has ended - at least for us.

Right now we've got nothing but speculation.

Who cares about he SB if the Cowboys aren't in it? And the past 20+ years bear out that there is a high probably they don't make them next year.

I've been pretty patient. Time for this team to something worthwhile.

10-6 next season Division Champs. MUCH harder schedule playing the West teams but all NFCE teams have to face the west so 10-6 will win the division.

We play gb which means ny gets an improved Detroit and Washington gets an improved Vikings. We get Atlanta and ny/Washington get good teams. We get Seattle and ny gets Arizona and who knows how Rams/niners will be. This tough schedule stuff is a myth

So you'd rather play GB than Det? Or Atlanta than anyone else in that awful divsion?

The schedules are of course largely the same for all our division, but the schedule looks tough right now, and tougher than the NY schedule based on those 2 games.

This is correct.

I'm usually pretty indifferent to scheduling because this is such a year-to-year league, but unless something drastic happens between now and next year, our schedule is much, much harder than the rest of the NFC East.

My point was the Superbowl hasn't even been played yet and we've already got people speculating that the Cowboys may not make the playoffs next year. Your right, it has nothing to do with the Superbowl per se, it's just an analogy on how quickly people are speculating that is team may not make the playoffs next year.

Everyone was scared of the schedule THIS year, and I think we did alright.

Half of the teams were "scared of" right now will might be next year's Panthers. You just never know.

In our division, no way we lose twice to the Midgets. We could easily go 4-2 in the division, which gets us a major leg up.

The Seahawks always play first place schedules and do just fine.

The Strength of schedule is 2 games.
It's the other divisions we play that really matter.

And reminder - if the NFC East is a beast - We're the main Beast in the pack.

This tough schedule stuff is a myth

This part "Oh, and it's been 12 years since a team won the East in back-to-back seasons." says otherwise

Maybe in the other divisions which are dominated by the same 1-2 teams the yearly schedule fluctuations don't matter but the last decade plus shows 1st place schedules kick the NFC East's butt

You've made my point quit clearly. The point of my post was that it's ridiculous that people are speculating that the Cowboys won't make the playoffs next year less than a week from the loss. Who knows maybe you're right, but there are hundreds of things to speculate about as a fan of the Cowboys this off season, but to go straight to "they probably won't make the playoffs next year" is pretty lame.

I want GB again for sure. New Orleans has Brees and Jameis is improving. Carolina you never know, they beat Washington when Washington had everything to play for.

Has it been NFC east teams preventing us from back to back titles or injuries to Romo?
