2019 Offense - Observation

what grinds my gear is they drafted Pollard as a RB who can play in many WR spots but failed to use him at all, trully we mismanaged our Offense a lot this season.
The future is definitely bright for young Pollard in this new offense.

Who knows, now that JG is out it would be nice to have an interview from Kellen Moore discussing the 2019 play calling. Perhaps a few nuggets of truth would be mixed in with the politically correct answers and respect given to a former staff member.

So many times we fans are left to read between the lines as if we don't have proper security clearance for the truth. Let's hope that the 2020 season will yield for less head-scratching moments when it comes to play calling.

My question is pretty simple ( and I know has been discussed here before) , the first three or so games of 2019 we seemed to employ a great deal of shifts, motion and different concepts.

After about game 4 the offense looks completely different . It looks like the stagnant , "beat your man" 2018 offense.

Did Garrett truly take over and shelve Moore's influence? Or is the answer more complex?

I know it's water under the bridge, and this is pure curiosity, but if Garrett really did go back to his old ways , why? Is he truly that stubborn that he couldn't stand being successful using another person's system?

The ironic thing is that if he had let Moore have 100% control the entire season, He'd probably still be HC.

That was hashed and re-hashed here during the season. Nobody on the outside knows the answer.

They did have some games later in the season when they went back to more motion and other variations.

I can never tell if people are trolling or not when they say that Garrett sabotaged his own team while things were going well and when he had no contract. Either way, sometimes it’s really embarrassing being a member here with the rampant stupidity on display.

I'm not saying blatant or purposeful sabotage. I'm just saying perhaps Garrett was so convinced his way / play design was the right choice he went that way in spite of the results.

The reason I bring this up is some of the news that has come out after the season such as Garrett imploring Jerry to let him call the plays last season instead of Moore, Or Garrett in the past pushing back against Callahan calling plays.

I seen some sideline footage of the Vikings game. Which is another reason I wanted Gary Brown out as RB's coach.
It showed him going to Moore and who ever would listen, to keep running Zeke up the middle. Like what was working will work, thinking they will soften up and he will break one.
Well on that last series, sure enough they tried him in the middle again for 2 runs and got nothing. That cost us the game as Moore went way from what was working. Dak and passing.

So I wonder how often did this goofball coach do this in other games. Seems like many others, as you said, why not go right more often. No, run it up the middle every freaking play according to Brown. Glad he is gone.
This defines JGs tenure,, as a HC, you need to be able to control your staff, all of your assistants need to know where they stand.
I went back and watched as much as I could bare, because of this post,, it takes some pause and rewind effort but I see where you are at on your assessment.
jazzcat22 summed up JG in a nutshell.
This is all you ever needed to know if you had any doubt at all why he totally sucked as a HC of this team.
He had no control whatsoever, almost like he just checked out mentally, and stood on the sideline with a dead headset, like a zombie coach...

How in the world is NFL team interviewing Garrett for Off Co?!?!
insane
MM keeps Moore to call plays. doesnt that say that Moore had something to say and show.

I want our offense to be aggressive early in the game, season, etc. Garrett maybe the most passive offensive mind i have EVER seen.
the defense should be aggressive during the entire game. Anti-prevent.

Garrett did not. Though he wanted to Jerry told him Moore will call plays. Our offense was pretty good with or without pre snap movement. Scheme was not the issue.

Dak missing open receivers.
Receivers dropped a ton of passes.
Moore calling too many pass plays inside the 20.
Too many missed FG's.
Not running enough when it's working.
Running too much when it's not.

No doubt Moore will get better as a play caller, he couldn't be much worse.
