Yes. His agilily measurables outside of his 40 and 10 yard slipt were very bad. He is kind of a weird athlete

I will say I think he may have a chance to stick because we are so thin. At 3T of we cut him we are basically looking at Golston as your 2nd 3T. Gallimore is a niche player, but his niche just might be enough. I still think he wont make the roster though
That makes sense. Thanks for the info, I didn't know that, but I did suspect it.

I watch the drafting of DT's all the time, as that is the one position that can make or break a team more than any position other than QB. The biggest reason I see DT's fail is lack of lateral agility. Basically, a DT must be able to move from side to side to both make plays and cover gaps.

Galley's scouting report reminded me of Jerel Worthy, a highly drafted DT by the Packers. Lacked lateral agility. Never panned out to be more than a reserve because of it. And that is extremely common.

Dallas selected:

Hurts over Diggs
In reality:
  • Andy Dalton was signed in May
  • Dak Prescott's ankle injury occurred in October
  • Jerry Jones signs Prescott to the four-year, $160 million dollar contract the following March
What if scenario: Jalen Hurts impresses in training camp and preseason. Then, in a surprise move, is slotted as the backup quarterback for the regular season.

Does the events of 2016 repeat themselves in 2020? Jones would have been part of the decision making involving the transition of quarterbacks again. I believe the answer would have been yes.

What scouting report did you read? He didn't have the production to warrant a 1st round talent.
That's why he was slated to go in the 2nd. His scouting report read like a 1st round pick, tho.

Gallimore was a very tough assignment to judge, as he put on 30 lbs to play NT for OKLA.

Production: 148 tackles(18 for loss), 9 sacks, 5 forced fumbles. That appears to me to be good production for his position. However, college production is only one small part of evaluating a player.

Still, the fact that he dropped to mid 3rd points toward something we ignored. As Darth pointed out to me, in all likelihood it was his poor agility showing. Which is the most common reason DTs fail.

Hurts has been in the perfect situation for a young QB. Great supporting cast, and great coaching/ownership. His GM has done everything to help thie kid, and it's pretty clear ours hasn't...actually, we don't even have a real GM

What are you talking about?

Dak has had a great supporting cast since the moment he stepped on the field.

Dallas selected:

Jefferson over Lamb
Hurts over Diggs
Gallimore
Gabe Davis over Robinson

Wr was a need. I think we can agree JJ was the pick.

Diggs has the pedigree, size and athleticism to cover anyone. He has played very well.
If Hurts was the pick, would he have taken the QB1 job during the ankle or thumb injuries?
Would you be happier paying Hurts or Dak an albatross contract?
Team would have a hole at CB1 potentially right now. Or they would have missed on Parsons bc they would have been pressed to move up in Draft.

DT was a need. Gallimore was the pick can't really second guess this one.

Gabe Davis. This could have solved the Gallup situation completely.
What if they drafted Tom Brady and developed him?

broken OL? Hurts has played 1 full season and the Iggles have put a better supporting cast around him than the Cowboys are putting in front of Dak. They brought in a Pro Bowl WR for next to nothing to pair up with another stud WR. What part do you not undetrstand, let alone the genius behind it in their GM and coaching staff? This has nothing to do with what the Cowboys have tried to do over the last 7 years, this is what the Iggles did for their QB to succeed

Hurts looked pretty bad until they got a system that fits his skill set. Even if we drafted Hurts, no way we implement something like that for him here.

There would be less lamenting Hurts' contract in comparison to Dak's, if Dallas would have played in a superbowl last year. I don't think Hurts nor Dak are super impressive QB's, and I think both are grossly overpaid.
