2023 Draft = Pitiful

What gets me is the Schoon is terrible. Lol How is he terrible?
He's a 2nd round pick !
We hear all the time that 1st, 2nd and to an extent 3rd round picks should be starting - or at least contributing a lot. He's not !
A 4th rounder in his 2nd year, is stepping forward, I don't know what you don't get.

You really didn't understand this draft at all did you?
Tell me where I'm wrong then. I have all the confidence in McClay and his team. I just think they got this one wrong, in a year we needed to step up, this draft did not. Now in terms of down the road it may. But this year - not so much.

McCarthy and Jones were saying this was their most impressive draft class without even playing a snap. It looks horrendous.

As I already said the impact of the top 3 rounds is not there. Now, that may turn around down the road, but not right now - especially a 2nd round pick that hardly plays.
My argument remains,. For this year, it wasn't great. Hopefully, some of them make an impact next season.

Overshown might be the best player in this draft haul when we see him next year but still he's a coverage LB.
It's clearly apparent we need a hard-nose tackling LB almost as much as a Wideout.
I hope Mazi pans out and isn't trystenHIll 2.0.

Surely, the 2023 draft wasn't anything to boast about. Those choices were conducted by way of unfamiliar ideas of the talent available to this team. Whomever conducted those picks should be banned from having any further chances to repeat such mistakes. Drastic changes are in order. Such amateurish selections must be eliminated and corrected by significantly more educated levels of guesswork. Allowing the team's talent scouts to do what they do best should always be the order of the day. Jerry and Stephen should be keenly aware of that by now. If not, it's a hopeless cause.

I welcome your opinion, and Happy Christmas. He himself may not be, my original point was, the use of a 2nd round pick on a blocking TE who has not been much of a factor was a terrible use of a very important resource. 1st. 2nd and sometimes 3rd. Round picks should all be starters or high contribaren't.
Ours aren't.

He is a good all around tight end. He can catch the ball. They chose to throw mostly to Lamb and Ferguson. Schoonmaker can be a Cowboy for a long time.

And maybe he will be.
My post was that this was not a draft with any/much immediate impact. Hence the " for the future". Comment, as a die-hard. I certainly hope they all blossom into impact players, but most of the 2023 draft are certainly not this year.
In a year when we were trying to take that next step (1 playoff win and done).
I still believe we should have gone with different choices.
I will eagerly be discussing and diagnosing the upcoming 2024 draft with everybody !

If you count Brandon Aubrey to the Draft Class it sure gets from F+ to C- quickly lol

Right now i still wont final judge Mazi Smith. Extremely young and raw. I thought he needs atleast 2-3 years but hoped for more in Year 1.

Schoonmaker was one of the worst reaches in a while in a position without big need.

Overshown could be the best in this class, but now starts his NFL Career on a torn ACL and hes a gadget player and not a 3 down LB.

Brooks has shown Flashes for a 7th and maybe we find someone creative that can use Vaughn better than we do right now.

Scott and Fehoko are likely JAG that wont ever see the field and be out of the NFL in 2-3 years.

Never understood what they saw in Scott that we even gave up a pick this year for this guy

Bass is looking good and Overshown has a lot of potential as well. I think that Luepke has a lot of potential too.

I challenge you to find a team getting less from their draft. F- grade.

I think this is going to be a late bloomer draft. nobody great, but bunch of good players. Hopefully Mazi will grow into a reliable DT. I see schoonmaker getting more reps along with Fergi, and if he shows, will fergi get the same treatment as Schultz. Overshown has potential, but got injured. Richards can be a good swing tackle and Fehoko a rotational player. no hope for Scott or Deuce. Brooks has potential to be a reliable #3, or #4.

If Schoonmaker hits his ceiling right now, he would be a wasted pick.

The point is that they used premium draft capital on a non-premium skillset.
