IMHO if you want to know why this team comes up short every year have a look at the cap hits for next year for the top 6 guys. It is pretty gruesome. 144 million for Dak, D Flaw, Zack, Tyron, Zeke and Gallup. Quite frankly I just can't imagine ever doing worse. Throw in another 9 million on Lael Collins and you have spent 67% of your salary cap and have gotten basically nowhere.

Zero team depth. Zero team accountability. Zero leadership from the top.

So many players had fantastic seasons and a fantastic playoff run on fantastic team friendly contracts only to be flushed down the toilet by the "stars" of the team.

Jerry sure does like his guys.
And then you look at how other teams are structured and think about the nature of unrestricted free agency, the draft, and are not surprised.

IOW, every team has a small group of vets that take up a large portion of cap while most of the roster is cost controlled or modest in size.

Prescot should be arrested for stealing millions against the Boys. Picked their pockets clean and didn't do a dam thing to earn it!
He should be sentenced to 5 years of throwing competitions against David Carr. :muttley:
P.S. Ok just for you Dak lovers we will make his targets larger.......

The cap isn’t the reason the Cowboys keep coming up short. Despite the The Cowboys have had some very talented teams that just can’t get it done.

Everything about this is so wrong. You know better.

Why can't people understand the Cowboys contracts are all written to be restructured?
I am talking about 2023. The season that just happened. The end result of all the restructuring from the years that came before. I think it is you that fails to understand.

Manipulate it like the rams did
You can only manipulate future caps. You can't manipulate past caps. All you can do is go back and look at what the end results was of all the manipulating that you did. That is what I am trying to present here. We have manipulated the cap for years and after all the manipulating we ended up with a handful of players who consumed almost all of the 2023 cap and provided little to no value on the field.

and some people won't get passed the first name.

this has Jerry written all over it.

DFlaw (brilliant), had a 7 year fully guaranteed contract as he was extended time over time...no other player in NFL history has ever had 7 years of gauranteed contract. nevermind the lack of production being top 10 paid in your position.

don't get me started on Zeke. it wasn't bad enough we draft a RB with top 5 pick (who does that). then hand him a contract making him the highest paid RB ever.....

dumb. dumb dumb

The season that just ended was 2022. As for restructuring, all teams do it. All teams have dead money. The Eagles only have 4M available next year with Hurts on a rookie deal.

You are right my bad. I guess it is time to manipulate away then. Yikes just checked and we finished 2022 with 32 million in dead money.
