2024-25 NBA Season Thread

As a Dubs not a big fan of the move for Butler, especially at the cost of 2-years/$121M for a 35-year old player.

Even worse, was hearing we pivoted after failing to complete a trade for Durant.

Butler doesn’t really move the needle.
Definitely wouldn’t want to be stuck with Butler. Wants a new contract, old player and just as bad as the Dennis Rodman drama in his later years.

He already got his new deal.
That was part of the trade 2 additional year at 60M each.
He lives in California, so the trade was a net win for him.
Prolly extends the GSW window another year or two.

Went to the right place IMHO.

The trade just made the Warriors older; lots of blown leads and can't seal the deal in the 4thQ, looking gassed and turning it over at the most inopportune time after time after time. Kerr being stubborn and sticking with the "old" regime mentally, dated like 10 years ago!

No trust in the youngsters and don't get me started on Podz.

All that gets you is a 50/50 season.

As a Celtics fan, Im not a fan of this move either. Butler is a killer on a team of killers now. If this clicks, this could turnnl the season around. Curry, Butler and Green is a scary thought in the playoffs. Keep in the mind, they year we lost to you guys, we were under .500 at the deadline.

It made a ton of sense for the GSW. They are going to go out in a blaze of glory then tear it to the studs and rebuild.
The attempts to add youth with upside haven't panned out.
So, they take on massive short-term money to move off other guys.
They have a very real timeline now of ~2 seasons then tank.

Yeah I agree. GW screwed up the minute they took Wiseman over Lamelo. Their future would’ve been so much brighter.

Stephon Castle. The winner of the Slam Dunk Contest old school style. Before props became a thing. No freaking cars and ladders on the hardwood, just pure physical dominance. Glad he got a chance to show the public his skills. Including the MVP of the Rising Stars game. They should have let Wemby start and get more minutes. Seemed like he was the only one on his team who wanted to win.

No comment on CP3 and Wemby trying to get around the rules in the Skills Contest.

Wiseman ended up a horrid choice.

But I am out on LaMelo for this spot. He has missed 50 games a year the last 3 seasons and he being in Cali would be disastrous IMO.
Would he be better off with Steph as the ball handler? I just don't know. He kind of just needs the rock to rock.

BUT, put Tyrese Halliburton here? Oh yea, that will cook. Or we get real greedy and pick the Dallas kid, Tyrese Maxey.
But I need a Tyrese here in a redraft, lol.

Well I say Lamelo because realistically he was the choice if not Wiseman and a ball handler like Lamelo with Steph would be nasty. Worst case be the Shaun Livingston for a year or two.

It's hard to not be a slam dunk better option than Wiseman

But I kinda agree with you...Melo just doesn't play winning basketball

His 3.6 TOs per game would put him 5th...which isn't the end of the world (he doesn't currently qualify due to missed games)

But on top of that, he shoots 12 threes a game

And misses 8 of them, so pretty much 33%

And again, 33% isn't the end of the world, but the volume combined with the turnovers and I just don't think his style is conducive to winning

Id go with Haliburton. However would Maxey be better in Kerr's system? Halliburton is more a throwback PG

I think they'd both be the same essentially. In that I mean they'd both be PG on defense and SG on offense. Until Steph sits.
Not sure either would be a star but I could see them both being very quietly impactful. Good enough that they must be guarded on offense out to the edge.
I saw Maxey play an AAU game and I didn't expect him to make it in the NBA... lol at me. In that game he basically stayed at half court, attacked passing lanes and just stole the ball for dunks. I don't think he took a single jump shot.
I am clearly worth every cent of the 0 I make scouting.
