I hate to say it because it’s not what I want, but every fiber in me points to Bill Belichick.
I would prefer an offensive minded coach who also knows how to run the ball, but …

Jerry has gone so far down the rabbit hole and finds himself in a hurricane of criticism and mockery unlike anything since his first inaugural season in Dallas with Jimmy Johnson when the media referred to both men as the Beverley Hillbillies of the NFL who had no idea what they were doing. I believe his only response that won’t be questioned will be to hire the greatest coach the NFL has ever seen. This will restore instant respect and a level of credibility that our narcissistic owner craves whether it’s best for the future or not.

Why will Bill accept the position? Because Jerry has already nurtured the relationship, Bill has had over a year to ponder it, Jerry will pay whatever it takes to avoid the criticism that comes with another poor hire, and because restoring the Dallas Cowboys to prominence by creating a tough culture and rebuilding Doomsday over the next couple of years will further his legacy rather than possibly hurting it with failure to win with another poor team.

Bill Belichick may be a little over the hill, but …
  • He knows how to build a tough culture of accountability
  • He will reduce the stupid penalties by non-stars in short order with his philosophy that “you aren’t good enough to compensate for your penalties.”
  • He will restore the run game
  • He is a genius when it comes to defense. That’s the one area where Father Time doesn’t seem to win, and he will likely have Parsons playing pass rush OLB in a switch to the 3-4
  • He will never struggle to bring in GREAT assistants who want to learn under him in their quest to become head coaches.
  • There are tough minded veterans out there that Bill gives us a better chance at signing
Bill Belichick is definitely not the sexy pick, not the Shannahan offensive tree, not the young boy genius coming from a great team that may have inflated his genius status, but if Jerry wants to restore his own credibility a little, give fans something to believe in, and if fans want to restore the Cowboys tradition of having a Doomsday defense and a run game that the great and good QBs can lean on and win with, Belichick may be the best answer.

I think we all realize now that this team will never win and be a serious contender until the culture first changes. If nothing else, Belichick may be the only available coach who can actually change our culture, perhaps the only coach available that Jerry would allow to change the failing culture he has created.

I don't think Bill is the right answer, but I will take him any day over what I think will happen - Mike Zimmer is the next HC, or Garrett is brought back, or a former Cowboy with no coaching experience who gets to train on the job.

Because the Pats sucked. I don’t want him either but if the option is Kellen a Moore or Bill? Give me Bill. They will not make the right choice. They haven’t made the right choice since Parcells.
Yeah they sucked. Bill was basically the GM and coach there.
I would rather have Deon.

After a season like this, I think Jerry will be looking for a splash hire. He wants headlines and loves to talk. The only 2 available that would make a big splash are BB and Prime Time.

Vrabel is BB tree guy but younger and relatableto the younger players i rayther have him.. But you're 100% correct that guy from the lions may look good with that all in just ridiculous amount of talent they have on that offense how do you know he's gonna do as a head coach trying to also concentrate on the offense or teaching it to his offensive coordinator who's not calling plays we've seen this what was the guy that came from Kansas City how's he doing I should've called dad? I got to think about his name for a minute but everybody thought he was gonna be this precious little pick but didn't realize Andy Reid was the one designing the offense calling the offense running the team you can't count on a first time head coach to do the things he's been doing as a coordinator when everything's gonna be different he gets here including the scrutiny and the pressure.. So Ben Johnson might be a sexy pic but that don't mean he's gonna be any better than kliff Kingsbury or Kellen Moore who by the way both look good at Times Now but look at what they're coaching I mean they're getting a little bit more latitude and they're being covered up as coordinators when they got these GMs filling their every need with players that can get it done and even then you can still see why they wouldn't make good head coaches and the fact that they're being overrated in a lot of ways.

What's happening with the lions is more about the entire staff working together with that group of players you're not gonna necessarily find that again wherever they all split up and go to that's been a known fact around the NFL it's very rare to get a guy that's looking like the next superstar at a coordinator's position and then make him a head coach that he finds himself in a complete different situation with a completely different set of players and somehow they're supposed to recreate that...

I prefer a hard nosed defensive minded coach and yes that might be BB or it could be vrabel I don't know man I would try to steal spagnola away from the chiefs although he's not that stupid to probably leave that situation but I want someone like that hell I haven't looked over in a while but I don't remember the coordinator that's with the Saints he's pretty good too like I would start with the defensive coordinator or defensive minded available head coach that's already done this there be stronger to be here in Dallas Dallas media the market the pressure working for this owner I don't think you'd want a guy like Ben Johnson although I wouldn't be upset if he ended up here but my first choice has to be somebody would be more of a disciplinarian and make our defense better you can work with an offense just hire the right offensive coordinator...

I have great respect for Bill Belechick as a head coach but I really hope he’s NOT the HC here next year and here are my reasons:
  • BB is 72. Every great HC reaches a time when the game passes them. Tom Landry was 64 his last season and Don Shula was 65 when he retired in 1995. Even the greats just reach a time when the game is ahead of them.
  • I don’t think BB will agree to come here anyway. Why? He’s used to having maximum control. He HATES having any info leaked to the press and he likes being the only spokesman for the team. Why would he be ok with the circus this place is under Jerry?
  • I think having BB here would be a step back for this franchise. He prefers old school schemes on both sides of the ball.
  • IMO, we need a younger, hungrier, more modern NFL HC. Like Jimmy was in 1989. Having said that, I don’t think Jerry will ever again hire a guy like that.
I know Bill B could become the next HC here. In some ways it’s just what JJ loves. A big name. But I’m afraid a name alone doesn’t win football games and certainly can’t fix this putrid culture without a major change in how Jerry operates.

Every decision Jerry has made since the GB game has been directly contrarian to what the fans wanted, and it has all blown up in his face: Not firing Big Mike, bringing Zimmer back, Dak's extension, Zeke over Henry, doing nothing in FA, refusing to close the curtains, etc.

Jerry knows that the fan base rightfully thinks he's a moron, and he is taking it personally.

Jerry will hire the guy that most saps fan enthusiasm for the future, and that is most likely going to be Mike Zimmer or Jason Garrett.

Belichick will have plenty of choices if he wants to coach. Last article I read he was mentioning Tampa Bay.

Doubt he is oblivious to the oarcells

Dallas doesn't need an innovative offensive HC. Dallas needs defense. I've seen a lot of years go by where Dallas has a good offense, scores lots of points, and then falls flat down the stretch. This goes for the Romo years as well as the Dak years.

Both QBs being choke artists had a lot to do with that. If you can't get over the hump in the playoffs it means you have a QB who can't get it done.

Has either Zimmer or Garrett indicated they have any interest in being a head coach? I don’t believe they have. Where do fans come up with this kind of nonsense?

Dallas has to be one of the least desirable franchises for head coaching candidates in the NFL. The coaches that most know to stay away from Jerry Jones are ones that have worked for him in the past. No Zimmer, no Garrett, no Moore. The next Cowboys head coach will be someone no one is considering. Including the other 31 NFL franchises.

Do you think they would turn down the job? I think either Zimmer or Garrett would jump at the chance. Neither one would get an offer from any other franchise.
