Has it occurred to anyone that a future HC might not want hitch wagon to Dak and that contract just made it harder to get the ideal candidate.
Dick Vermeil...highly experienced and reaching nigh on 88 years of age...lolzToo old.
Jon Gruden makes sense in a lot of ways......Could be Jerry's way of sticking it to the NFL. Has Super Bowl experience....But the thing that scares me about him is....Can he evaluate talent? Mike Mayock and Gruden were a train wreck when it came to evaluating.Jerry is lazy and his football IQ is really bad. Belichick wants the coaching record and Jerry likes publicity. Makes too much sense,
Other options:
Jerry wants to go the creative offensive guru type (Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan):
- Ben Johnson - will have options and meddling-plus-cheap Jerry may take Dallas right out of consideration.
- Bobby Slowik, Texans OC
- Matt Campbell, Iowa State HC - If you ask guys who know ball, he's up there on offensive innovation and play calling. Has done "more with less" at Iowa State so right up Jerry's alley.
- Kliff Kingsbury, Commanders OC - He was not great in Arizona. Has spent the last two years getting better (you know, like McCarthy pretended to do). Plus, Jerry will overvalue Dan Quinn's opinion of Kingsbury.
- Kellen Moore, Eagles OC - I hope not but Jerry is lazy and desperately wants to be right about things he has said in the past.
- Jon Gruden - Kind of like Belichick, this is only possible because of some unique circumstances. Gruden needs a chance to get back into the NFL and Jerry won't care about the email scandal. Gruden is still one of the top offensive minds in football and would run circles around McCarthy on the whiteboard.
Jerry wants the culture, inspirational leader type (Dan Campbell)
Jerry wants the happy-to-be-employed yes man with the semblance of a name:
- Mike Vrabel - Jerry was the GM who claimed Vrabel was "too intimidating" for the "types of conversations they have to have in the room" so I doubt this one. I think he comes into play if coaches turn him down and Vrabel is willing to take less $$$
- Jason Witten - Jerry has told several people in and around the organization that he views Witten as someone who could have similar success as Campbell. I'm sure the jump from private school to the NFL won't be an issue.
- Brian Flores - This would be a great hire. I also think Flores would fight Jerry so probably won't happen.
- Ron Rivera - Gross but we rumored to be interested in him before.
- Jeff Fisher - Also gross. Supposedly someone Jerry reaches out to when he wants an "outside opinion."
Jason Witten would be an absolute DISASTERYou left out Kellen Moore especially after that whipping the Cowboys will get this afternoon. Fans are going to very disappointed because Jerry is just going to bring in someone he is comfortable with. Jason Witten is also an option.
He ran GOAT Tom Brady outta town... then the very owner of the Pats ran him outta town - despite all those SBs .that's a big NO he will get some old tired coach because his ego has to be fed by the media or maybe he will keep what he's got that's a delightful idea don't you think
+1There is a reason I want bellicheck. Instant credibility. The players would also know the clown show is over. This team would be disciplined and fundamentally sound.
Ppl can talk about his last year without Brady… but BB didn’t have any talent on that pats roster. We have something to build with.
He and whoever he brings in can get the most out of dak…. Get a rb that gets the run game going. Devise a scheme that gives offenses fits.
We still have talent on this roster. I want the guy that’s don’t it before and wants to still coach
