22-7 record

The schedule gets easier, but we still have 5 divisional games, and team records rarely matter in those games. Bottom line, the Cowboys have to learn how to close out games on both sides of the ball.

Also, the redzone offense is on life support. I understand we lack a serious ground game, but we have a pro bowl TE and a big WR who can go up and get the ball. We shouldn't be struggling the way we are inside the 20. It was another key reason we blew the Pats game and it came close to costing us the Skins game.

That is the most misleading stat currently in the NFL.

What does that mean it is pretty straight forward.

Dallas is not a good team they are not able to beat other good teams because they are a bipolar team that can not focus on the game at hand with out making stupid dumb mistakes, TO etc etc.

The record should be 20-9 the Jets and the Lions where let of the hook by Dallas so what is your point that we should take solace in a team that can not make plays when it matters

Thanks for starting this thread, Hoosier. I've been making this point in other threads. The Cowboys are on the brink of getting over that hump. When they put a few wins together (and they will soon), we will see confidence develop on the offensive side and the defense will continue to improve as the season goes on. The special teams have been unspectacular, but we have found a reliable kicker and have arguably the best punter in the league. My only concerns are the inexperienced O-line and Garrett's situational play calling, but I expect those things to improve as well. I don't understand all the gloom and doom on here. I see a very bright near future.

Our schedule up to this point has been brutal, but we know that we can go toe to toe with some of the best teams. A breakthrough is coming this season and the rest of the league will want no part of the Dallas Cowboys.

Why are you so sure about that?

Do you think NE, Det and SF are bad teams still? I don't.

It means nothing, if you have to make yourself feel better by playing bad teams, what does that say? Silly argument really

19-10 if we'd closed the deal in the 3 close losses. Still, that's an impressive record. All it continues to show me is we're one step behind the best teams right now. We're capable of beng better but are still too sloppy on offense and allow late game scores on defense.

That you're like most teams in the NFL?

As expected, we've now played the toughest schedule in the NFL, including four of the top seven teams, according to the Sagarin ratings. And we're ranked No. 9 overall despite our 2-3 record because of the way we've played against that schedule.

Hopefully we can take advantage of our upcoming schedule.

Definitely like the non-conference games the rest of the way ... St. Louis, Seattle, Buffalo, Miami, Tampa Bay, Arizona.

Just got to take care of business in the division.

All showing that record is saying we can't beat good teams with any regularity. There is no statistic for "close" games.

is won/loss record misleading? any other stat can be misleading (like SD leading the league in offense and defense and not making the playoffs) but not the bottom line

Wow, you must have been absolutely floored that the 1-4 Eagles managed to beat the 3-1 Commanders in FedEx yesterday. It must have been a stunning upset for you, considering the "bottomline" said that Washington was the vastly superior team.

Vegas and the sharps weren't, which is why the Eagles were the favorite. They probably saw that Washington's winning record came from squeeking out narrow victories against the atrocious Cardinals and Rams. They also probably saw that the Eagles lost some close games against good teams like the 49ers.

I guess Vegas sports books are just lucky.

Excuse for not beating those teams. This cowboys team has 8 wins in them maybe

So we can't beat good teams. Bodes well for the playoffs. Just sayin'.

That isnt going to make me fell any better watching other teams play in January.

I was under the impression we had beaten 2 of them from our Conference.

Just saying.
