For those complaining about the running play, what if Romo had thrown an incompletion and stopped the clock? You'd all be screaming, "WHY NOT RUN THE BALL AND DRAIN THE CLOCK?????"

lets be honest. Randle is marginal backup. But he wasn't given much room. Det DL is stout.

Take a shot instead of just laying down and taking it.

Yes there is. You don't run the ball on 2nd and 13 and you don't run the ball three times in a freakin' row when the game isn't over.

Actually, if they had simply run into the line three times and punted we probably do win. The holding penalty that gave the Lions a free timeout is what killed us.

Then at least it shows some will to actually WIN the game. A pass may very well have done nothing, but at least it's an attempt at continuing the drive.

Considering how many incompletions Romo had, I certainly would not feel comfortable taking that chance. Hindsight is 20/20.

When you have the lead, and are in opposing territory, trying to run down the clock, you run the ball. Football 101.

"Showing some will to WIN the game" means nothing if the pass falls incomplete, which it probably had a 50% chance of doing so.

You don't run it three times in a row and expect to get a 1st down. That is solely to play it hyper-safe. It's playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

Callahack is the play caller

True, but it is very, very clear that he's still got both his hands in that offense, and the playcalling is a reflection of his coaching. I get the sense Callahan is the play-caller in name only sometimes.

I cant understand why they were even handing a ball off. Three straight kneels and kick a field goal. No opportunity for a negative play in that situation. That would have left Detroit with minimal time on the clock.

An incomplete pass stops the clock. Interception would have been even worse.

Running the ball was the right decision.

this.

But I will add that not going for it on 4th and 5 was cowardly. When you can end the game on one play, you take that chance.

Sure you can. An offense should expect a very reasonable chance of picking up a first down when it runs the ball three straight times. We're talking just 3.33 yards per carry, you know. Failure of the offense to do that isn't failure on part of the playcalling,

Perhaps I'm mistaken. but I believe that if the down is not converted, the clock stops immediately.

How often does this team get 1st downs running the ball when we need more than 1-2 yards? Smart play calling is also knowing your team.

If we called that play, and then the next draw still ran off the time (as it was supposed to, barring Smiths blunder) it would have been a fine play call.
