2nd and 13 and you run it?

Perhaps I'm mistaken. but I believe that if the down is not converted, the clock stops immediately.

Indeed. But if you convert, you can then kneel the ball and and the game. If you don't convert, yes, they get the ball back with no extra time off the clock. Not a big loss IMO, since they get the ball back with a FG or a punt, too.

Yea I thought it was good to kick the FG. Defense needed to step up and make a stop and play tough instead of playing off in zones. We play better in man coverage and get eat up in zone. While the defense kept us in it, they also was our demise.

yeah you have to try to win the game there...Stafford has been the best 4th Quarter QB this season and we couldn't stop Johnson. but of course he would rather the defense take the blame than him and the offense.

How often does this team get 1st downs running the ball when we need more than 1-2 yards? Smart play calling is also knowing your team.

Point made, but how often does this team throw incomplete passes or interceptions in critical moments? At least even a stuffed run still keeps the clock running.

4th and 5 is too long to go for it, especially when you are already well within FG range.

4th and inches, or 4th and 1? I'd agree. But 4th and 5? Too risky.

But you could pass the ball or anything since the clock will stop on turnover on downs anyway.

Also... too risky? The only risk is that they can tie the game with a FG. Not a huge risk, IMO.

For those complaining about the running play, what if Romo had thrown an incompletion and stopped the clock? You'd all be screaming, "WHY NOT RUN THE BALL AND DRAIN THE CLOCK?????"

REALLY WE DIDN'T TRY TO GET A 1ST THERE WAS TO MUCH TIME ON THE CLOCK

True, but it is very, very clear that he's still got both his hands in that offense, and the playcalling is a reflection of his coaching. I get the sense Callahan is the play-caller in name only sometimes.

In retrospect I see the point being made, I'm just furious with both of them. Right. Ow I'm all for blowing the whole team up and replacing everybody, including the GM.

Hindsight hindsight hindsight.

And if the Cowboys had picked up a first down by running the ball, well, that would be a first down.

First down running the ball? When it's proven to be ineffective?
