forget about the 3rd and 2 romo fumble, the play before where Romo almost gets intercepted is the key play to me.

2nd down and 2 yds and you go into shotgun formation??? who does this? why didn't jason just run again, we could have easily scored or at least got down to the 1yd line and ran it AGAIN on 3rd down.

is it really that difficult?

I didn't like some of the playcalling. That goal line mess and the decision to give it to Choice on 3rd and short. Choice hasn't really done well in those situations. Felix was at least picking up a few yards a carry. Should've gave it to him or Murray.

Agreed. That was the decision that lost us the game.

I don't think Garrett is a very good game manager and last night proved it.

I wished he had payed more attention to Jimmy in those kinds of situations. When Jimmy was the HC here, he would give you 4 downs in that situation to run it in. He would tell you that you have four downs to run it in. I agree with the observation that Choice was a stupid call. When I saw Choice in the game on 3rd down, I knew it was going to be a failed play. He stops moving his feet when he meets contact in the hole in short yardage. That's one of the things I hate about his running style. It was really unfortunate for us there because Felix tweaked something and had to come out of the game right on that series. We probably need to rethink our substitution pattern a little bit. If Felix is out, we need to bring in somebody else on short yardage downs. Choice is not the guy and we got exposed right there.

You do realize that we had that very same situation later in the game. Second and 2. We ran on second for 1 yard. Ran again on 3rd down for no gain. We ran 26 times for 64 yards. There was no given at all that we would have scored running the ball in that situation.

It wasnt a great series of playcalls, but the fact is that if Romo just doesnt fumble (or throw the later INT) we win anyway.

Heck, the Packers were in their 4WR/1TE and 5WR set near the goalline and it worked for them.

New Orleans ran a conventional offense and tried to run it in from the goalline and the media and fans criticized him for NOT passing.

It's a lower percentage play. I don't care what the Packers or Saints did. I don't even care that it worked for us earlier in the game. It's like passing up a layup to shoot a 3-pointer. Yes, the 3-pointer might go in, but you're passing up what is nearly a sure thing in the process.

you do realize earlier in the game we were able to run the ball in on two plays on the goalline? see how your logic works.

plus even if we didn't get the touchdown we at least get the field goal and go up two possessions.

i am almost 100% certain that felix hobbled off the field after 2nd down which is why choice came in on the 3rd and short..either that or red put choice in and felix was just dinged up but was coming off no matter what..felix was dinged up though

Our inability to punch the ball in the endzone with anything less than 4 yards or the inability to pick up the key 3rd and ones (short) with running hard, when game is on the line has been a problem of this OL (or JG era) for a long time. Y'days game was lost because of that ONLY. (Remember the SD game - 4 tries from 1 yrd line)

Until we can do those things constanly we can't be an elite team.

He did it in preseason too and a lot of people said it was no big deal. I'm not sure why we do it, obviously there an advantage he sees there or perhaps a weakness he's trying to avoid.
