With 13.. Chiefs have 15.

I think we will lead the NFL in sacks this year. Why? Because Spencer and Ratliff haven't seen the field yet and we are still very dangerous.

You forget all about Ratliff and Spencer not playing. IF they both came come back and be somewhat themselves? Talk about depth on the defensive line......they are going to have so much energy to finish games...

I would play the hot hand if I were coach. We seem to be doing quite well without them. Frankly its time we find out what will happen without Spencer anyway. We will not be able to keep him and since Selvie has been doing just fine, keep him instead. Should be cheaper and at least so far is he definitely healthier.

Interesting subject this has turned into. I do like what we're doing without those guys but I really do miss Ratliff. An undersized NT in a 3-4 going up against bulls, and now he won't have to deal with double teams like that, if he could get back to where he was, OML L meaning Lord.

What impressed me today was that a lot of the pressure was coming from just the Front 4.

What happened to the DE/LB we got from Denver? Has he played any snaps so far?

Ratliff maybe, I doubt it though..... Spencer may be done here, theres rumors floating around that he needs microfracture surgery on his knee and if thats true there no way he can be effective. Especially with the way Selvie has been playing there is no reason to send Spencer out there on a bum knee and hurt us like he did against KC.... Let him heal up and if it takes all year then it takes all year no need to rush him back. But even when Rat comes back I hope they keep the starters as is and have Ratt spell Hatcher because Hatcher is playing like a beast as the 3 technique DT and Rat isn't suited to play the 1 technique. Using him as a rotational guy could add depth down the stretch that we may need.

I don't expect meaningful contribution from either Ratliff or Spencer this season (or ever), and I am okay with that.

It isn't unreasonable to think that. At this point that is the safest outlook to have.

I doubt that version of Spencer is coming back.

His knee isn't right at all.

Yeah it doesn't look good. He's trying, I believe, not just for this year but his future career and income is in the balance.

I wouldn't be surprised (if he doesn't get better this week and even regresses) if he is sent to season ending IR.

Are we collectively ready to acknowledge that Rod Marinelli and Monte Kiffin *might* have been right to say they like the team's DL personnel, afterall? Or does all that baseless criticism sink like a rock like three quarters of whatever else gets complained about every offseason? Or are we still going to hold out hope--I mean, fear--that the DL eventually falls apart? :)

You better recognize that we suck in the trenches, and will always lose cause Jerry doesn't concentrate on them. The DL is a coming disaster, and we should all pray that we get lucky in that area.

But for real, we better pay Marinelli in gold bricks cause he is putting in work.

No doubt, Marinelli's had a huge impact. My comment was more that, when Marinelli and Kiffin say they like the DL talent, it's probably wiser to give them the benefit of the doubt rather than to declare them senile, or lying.
