3-4 defense

Yep!! I still have nightmares about what could have been with DWare had we had a monster NT to push the middle back into the QB's face.

we actually had a top notch, pro bowl pass rush interior guy pushing up the middle for QBs in Jay Ratliff. who was really out of place as a NT.
- and who also was very reluctant to move from the NT role as was reported.

Ratliff was terrific at splitting the double team as an interior pass rushing force. But over time, the beating and pounding of being an NT began it's wear and tear on him as he was too undersized for that
particular role and it eventually caught up with him.

Otherwise I had always envisioned Ratliff as a 3-4 DE in Wade's one gap scheme (rarely unique for a 3-4 scheme) if we had an idea powerful NT anchoring the run. But that never came about.

I remember Ratliff. He was undersized and it's actually why I said it because he while had some talent he wasn't a monster big ole boy like we needed.

A 3-4 could work. Move Lawrence and Bennett in the DE spot and have Quinn go to the OLB. Cowboys would need to draft a good edge rusher that can cover for the other OLB spot and need to get a NT.

and you would have severely undersized 3-4 DEs that would be absolutely crushed while playing inside the interior full time at just 260 pounds.

or you could stay with 4-3 and draft a real DT and Safety to support the personnel we have now..

Just give me a DC who mixes fronts up a little. We have the players right now to do both a 3-4 and 4-3.
