Didn't the father in Amityville horror wake up at exactly the same time in the middle of the night for weeks at a time?

Not exactly the same thing, but I consistently awake 1-2 minutes before my alarm goes off... Whether it's set for 5 am or 6:45 am. It's weird.

same here, I think its because i hate my alarm noise so much my body forces me to wake up to avoid it.

You know you are right because I heard another cycle starts at 2am. But why 3am unless I am on a different REM plan.

That's very possible. Most people have cycles that run between 4 and 7 but there is still a significant portion (about 1/3) that falls outside of that range. What time do you normally go to bed?

What is with 3am? Has anybody else here awakened on the exact minute? I've done this occasionally the past year and I did it again this morning. Insomnia wouldn't be it because we are talking exactly 3am-not 2:55 or 3:05. I'm not exaggerating when I say its on the money at that exact time.

Kind of freaky but there are times where I will wake up at 3:30 AM every morning for a week. It happens about once every three months but like you said it is exactly at that same time.

The first time it happened for a week like that I just figured someone with a loud car or truck was going down our road to work at the same time but since it only happens around once every three months I don't know what it is.

I just wake up, use the bathroom and go back to bed but it is still odd and annoying when it happens.

I wake up after 6 hours of sleep almost religiously. It doesn't matter when I lay down.

Longer sleep tied to worse cholesterol in seniors

Thu Jan 8, 2009 10:29am EST

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Older people who spend more time sleeping have higher cholesterol levels, and less "good" HDL cholesterol, Dutch researchers report.

People who sleep fewer than seven hours a night, as well as those who log more than eight hours may be more likely to develop heart disease, although it's not clear why, Dr. Julia F. van den Berg of Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam and colleagues note in the medical journal Psychosomatic Medicine.

To investigate whether cholesterol might be a factor, van den Berg and her team compared sleep duration and total cholesterol levels, as well as the ratio of total to HDL cholesterol, in 768 men and women 57 to 97 years old.

The researchers used actigraphy to measure sleep duration, which involves using a wristwatch-like device to keep track of movement and has been shown to be a more reliable gauge of sleep time than a person's own report. People wore the device for five to seven days and nights.

None of the study participants used cholesterol-lowering drugs.

Overall, van den Berg's team found, people who slept longer had higher cholesterol levels. Among people younger than 65, spending a longer time in bed accounted for most of the relationship. For people 70 and older, the relationship was largely due to the fact that people with more fragmented sleep -- and therefore less sleep time -- had lower cholesterol levels.

It's possible that people who spend more time in bed may be less active, and hence have higher cholesterol levels, the researchers note, but the link between fragmented sleep and low cholesterol is more difficult to explain; underlying illness could be a possibility.

Wish it was...that sounds pretty good...but if that were the case it would probably be mixed with bad dreams that correlate into gas cramps.:laugh2:

Ever have those dreams?

For example, and this was a real one.

I was dreaming I was at a video store once. And as I was looking for a movie to rent I would see someone pick up a movie case for a movie that I knew was terrible. I would start to tell them not to waste their money on it but I would get a real bad stomach cramp. After a second or so it would be gone and a few seconds later another person would pick up the case and the stomach cramp would come back.
It got to the point when I would see someone starting to reach for the video case I would yell...NOOO and then bang the stomach cramp.

Woke up with bad gas cramps. :laugh2:

DON'T RENT THAT BLEEPING MOVIE.
:laugh2:

Ever watch CSI: NY?

There was recurring issue through the seasons storylines(last year or the year before) where Gary Sinise's character kept waking up at 3am or so....

I never found out why.... just a tidbit for your thread

It had to do with a childhood friend that was killed in front of him. Some kind of repressed memory. I forget the exact details but he ended up going to Chicago and seeing an old friend that had either killed the friend or was there also.

Remember Pauley Walnuts waking up at the same time on one of the sopranos seasons. Then went to see a priest and later someone who said they talked with the dead.

That was pretty funny.
