3 Dallas Cowboys rookies who could start in Week 1

#4: RB Jaydon Blue
I don’t see him starting but that’s not all that important at some positions since they rotate a lot. I do see him getting touches and reps in some passing downs. One of the most impressive thing I seen on film with him is route running. The kid looks like a WR running routes

It doesn’t matter who starts at rb, it’s rbc and blue needs at least 8-12 touches per game
And some reps in the passing game when we do 4 wide. Imagine getting him lined up on a LB or safety with his route running ability

Yep..

Keep this in mind though.. It took Jahmyr Gibbs awhile to adjust to the NFL but once he did he blew up pretty quick.

Blue is the same type of player so I don’t think he comes out the gate showcasing his full ability.

Hopefully I’m wrong.
Love the Blue pick.

No matter how many rookies we start, I think Pickens will be our most beneficial new toy.

Booker will most likely be an improvement over Hoffman or Bass. Revel may mean we don't have to start Elam or play Carson, etc., out of desperation. Toia may at least give us a decent run-stopping body. But Pickens is a bona fide star. The only question with him has nothing to do with his playmaking ability.

Of course, since it takes a team to succeed, we need multiple players, including rookies, to step up and play well.
Steelers are whining that Pickens didn't return the texts or phone calls of his teammates.

Shoot, sometimes I want to be left alone to. I'm not obligated to return anyone's call or text.

Just seems petty over there.

Sometimes, depending who is responding to my posts, I want to be left alone, too.

Mostly JK, and not talking about you.

I don't know how petty the Steelers' stuff was, but I'm not a big believer in every player having to be a great teammate. I've had good employees who wanted to hang around the office and be everyone's buddy, and I've had good employees who just got the job done and didn't socialize much.

My only concern with him is him doing stupid things on the field that costs us. However, I think what he provides will outweigh any cost.

I think he just fits in better here. That will go a long way. He likes recognition and attention, like many receivers. He'll get plenty of that in Dallas.

I get the article was centered around the rookies, but I agree with you.
Yeah, the author could have just avoided throwing in: In short, the George Pickens addition may not be their most beneficial new toy; it might just be these young guys.

There really wasn't a reason to drag Pickens into it.

Well, I think he knows why he was traded and he's in a contract year, so he'll do what's necessary to maximize his value. The Pickens we see this year might not be the Pickens he will be once he gets paid.

I guess that's why if he plays at a high level and we want to keep him, I would franchise tag him next year and possibly the year after that. Keep him on his toes. Of course, that could go sour if he balks at being tagged. But considering that the tag is $25 million-plus, I doubt he'd balk. (If he balls out, he'll probably be looking for at least that as his APY.)

On another note, I think it's likely we sign Gilmore after camp or maybe right before. He wasn't at the Star for no reason. So, I'm still skeptical Revel starts game 1. And I think the Cowboys know it'll take time for he and Diggs.

I was just watching Voch and he also thinks that may happen. I like his solo show more than his in-house work.

He also suggested we go get Amari Cooper, which I think is a bad idea.

Vegas does get things wrong at times. This is one of those times.
But it seems some fans on here love this from Vegas.
They do. But they're judgement is based on what will get even money, nothing else. That often coincides with how good the team is, but not always. They really don't care about that part. Just where the money goes.

I think the Cowboys floor is 8 games. I think they'll win more. I wouldn't bet on the over because I never do. I find an under I like and take that if I make any bet at all. Because this way I don't have to worry about injuries.

If Jay Toia starts, or even plays well, that would be a certified steal. I would be giddy if he at some point he became an impact player. Or at least be good enough to stay with the team until he does become that player.

It is more like, how long does it take the coaches to fully understand and tap in to his ability.
