Having LaPorta as their top TE was a smokescreen. I'm 98% certain that if Buffalo didn't jump the Cowboys they would've taken Kincaid.
Yes. You are smart enough to not believe everything you read. Congrats. Not many on here have that

Wasn't that video taken after the Kincaid pick? If so then they would have no reason to discuss Kincaid at that point. While I agree that La Porta was probably higher it is no guarantee that the Cowboys are covering for the fact that they wanted Kincaid. Did the Cowboys want Kincaid? I have no idea, but the Cowboys do have a tendency to telegraph their picks so it is not out of the realm of possibilities.

There will always be some truth mixed in with fantasy about the Cowboys or some team duping another, it is not that big of a deal, we will all know in 9 months who duped who.
I believe Dallas would have picked Kincaid. The war room was dejected when Buffalo picked Kincaid.

I don’t think those were smokescreens. Avila was in consideration at 26 and TE was clearly a priority because we reached for one at 58. I think drafting a QB became less important once they re-signed Rush.
According to all reports, the OL player under consideration was the OT Bergeron out of Syracuse. Dallas loves OTs who then move to OG and have position flex.

3. NO. Turned out he was in the debate when the Cowboys were on the clock. Thank goodness they went Mazi instead.

2. MAYBE. The QB's all went earlier than the Cowboys expected. So rather than reach for a QB we got Richards, Scott, Vaughn and Brooks with those pick.

1. Yes at 26 but no from then on. We know TE wasn't in the discussion at 26. After that, welcome to the Dallas Cowboys Luke Schoonmaker.
Media says it was Bergeron, not Avila, but the video that has been shown doesn't identify the guard candidate they were debating. Bergeron makes sense since Dallas seems to prefer tackles who can play guard over guard/center types.

Number 2 got me. I thought we would take a QB on day 3. If for no other reason than to develop, & or (hopefully) put some pressure on QB1 & QB2.

That miss cost me a steak dinner..

I don't think it was a smokescreen at all. The facts got mixed with some fiction - no team's just going to hand the media their draft board - but it's not like we were completely led astray either.

Dallas' interest in Avila seems genuine. Guard was 1st round consideration. Avila's name may have been a smokescreen, but if you like Bergeron, you probably like Avila too. They're similar types of players.

TE was clearly a priority too, as they reached for Schoonmaker any way you want to slice it.

I am willing to put money down that Kincaid was the Cowboys' #1 target. I have no doubts that they genuinely liked LaPorta, but Kincaid was seen as a better player by every draftnik and their dog. Most likely, they are embarrassed that their building leaked and the Bills used that info to snipe them.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner......Kincaid getting snatched up right from under Jerry's nose caused them to make a panic pick for the TE in the 2nd rather than go for OT. yep, no one felt Dallas would use a pick on a QB after resigning Rush.
