No we don’t.We already know for a fact that isn't true.

The war room video was AFTER Kincaid was picked and off the board. The war room video clearly verifies who the discussion was and wasn't about. LaPorta and Kincaid weren't mentioned.
The Cowboys don't draft BPA. They draft for need, and someone they don't believe will be there in a later round. I agree with that logic. Mazi was a very good pick for what the Cowboys needed. But there were DEs and CBs ranked higher. If the pressing need is DT, why the hell would you draft someone else? Only two reasons. An obvious player dropped so far that you can't ignore them, or there were no players you needed that you couldn't get later on. Lamb is a good example of the first reason.
My beef was in picking any TE in the 2nd round. I thought we could have used a RB or OL at that pick. But who knows, maybe the RB we got in the 6th will surprise us all. But still, the OL worries me. Injuries can be a problem.
No argument from me. On a side note, I was super happy when those corners were taken. I wanted Parsons and said as much. But don't get me wrong, I didn't think he'd be a generational player, who can predict that? But I liked him a lot more than the corners.Sometimes they draft need, and sometimes BPA.
The Lamb draft was generally considered All BPA All The Time.
Zack was BPA. Micah was BPA.
Taco was *not* BPA. Hill was *not* BPA.
DLaw was need.
Yep, the Jones boys are not that smart or clever!I don’t think those were smokescreens. Avila was in consideration at 26 and TE was clearly a priority because we reached for one at 58. I think drafting a QB became less important once they re-signed Rush.
Not buying, at all...........pretty once he started dropping sure and IF they wanted him bad enough, you call 2/3 teams ahead of your pick to arrange a trade if needed.I'm 98% certain that if Buffalo didn't jump the Cowboys they would've taken Kincaid.
great call and thread. I pointed this out as well, way before the draft as the entire TE thing at 26 made 0 sense. Turns out, logic was right!I am starting to like Dallas draft a lot more!
Cowboys: 3 pre-draft rumors that were clearly a smokescreen
3. High possibility of Steve Avila in first round
2. Cowboys are definitely drafting a quarterback
1. Everything related to the TE position
Credit to the entire Cowboys' draft team for executing the best smokescreen of the first round. All everyone heard in the weeks leading up to the draft was that Michael Mayer wasn't getting past Dallas at No. 26 overall.
In the event Dalton Kincaid was still available, though, he would have been the pick considering he was the team's top-ranked tight end. That was the narrative being pushed by draft experts and the general media.
That wasn't true, either, though it baited the Bills into trading one spot ahead of the Cowboys to draft Kincaid. Fans in Buffalo and some national pundits are crediting the Bills with duping Dallas, but it was actually the other way around as Dallas likely wouldn't have taken Kincaid in round one anyway.
Per ESPN's Todd Archer, Iowa's Sam LaPorta was the team's TE1 followed by Kincaid and Mayer. Additionally, the Cowboys didn't have a first-round grade on any of them. We like to think they would've traded up in the second round if one of LaPorta or Mayer had fallen within their range, but they were gone by pick 35.

no but the staff is...ie Will McClay.Yep, the Jones boys are not that smart or clever!
I am 100% buying it. Kincaid was one pick away from falling to them. Jerry was playing the odds and got played by Buffalo. Not buying, at all...........pretty once he started dropping sure and IF they wanted him bad enough, you call 2/3 teams ahead of your pick to arrange a trade if needed.
I don't like to spend a lot on corners, whether by draft picks or salary. No argument from me. On a side note, I was super happy when those corners were taken. I wanted Parsons and said as much. But don't get me wrong, I didn't think he'd be a generational player, who can predict that? But I liked him a lot more than the corners.
