I see the 3 year rule in a similar light to the 3 date rule. If you aren't getting anything from the player after three years, cut him loose. Similarly, if you aren't....

well that would depend on where you went for your dates. chukey cheese or fogo de chao? : )

It's not whining, we just want him out already ok, so quit your whinning

it seems he must whine about my whining to feel better about himself. there's just a crowd in here that feels bp craps gold and if you don't like it you're the stupid one.

ICE how quickly you forget the parade of young QB's we have looked at over the last 4 years: QC, HUTCH, HENSON; and before BP Leaf and Wright and Stoerner. I am probably missing a few that got quick looks like whats his name from Harvard this year and others. Now whether you liked it or not Q was a 2nd rd pick and Henson a third who many thought had great potential. SO its NOT correct to say we have not tried with young QB's. We just have been LOUSY at the selection. SO the question is: what makes you think they could pick a winner NEXT year?

who said i forgot 'em?

carter - never liked the pick but at least it was a young route.
hutch - bad experiement, not a pedigree prospect.
henson - coulda been a pedigree but oops - he's not.
stoerner - vying for backups and never really anything more.
leaf - reject city and hey - while we're searching, we're gonna hit dead ends.

are YOU forgetting i said when aikman retired we're going to go through a lot of peullers, sweeneys and hogebooms before we "hit it" again? we're doing just that but now we've added in the "vet on his last legs" into thei mix as well, prolonging the time until we just stop the games and draft one high up in the 1st round and quick the bargain basement shopping.

you're right here wg - but when i made that comment it was from parcells mouth when he got here. what happens with romo is anyone's guess from here and i hope he does pan out and start for the next 10 years and brings home a couple of more trophies.

parcells was the one who said he didn't have time to groom a young qb when he got here which is why he brought in vinnie "i can outsquat your mother" testeverde. now bledsoe. i hope and pray for the day we quit the aged vet route and go back to the days where we put the young guy in there and build a team around him. i miss those times and they simply won't come back till parcells is done playing "i can still do this!" and leaves.
I don't recall Parcells ever saying that. If you can find the quote or where you might have heard it, I'd be interested in reading it. Especially since when he got here, he had QC here. What I remember him saying when he first got here was "I'm too old to lose" and then we had the mythical 2003.

What I have heard consistently since then was that Romo nor Henson was ready...and in some cases he didn't want to lose the player. Whether that's BS or not, I don't know. But that's what I've heard.

The Bledsoe era may very well end after this rough stretch of games, or even at the end of this season, but I won't harp on it until then. Romo is too much of an unknown for me to say make the switch. And I like the fact that Parcells is giving Romo some actual game time. It's not much, but I like the fact he's getting his feet wet.

ANd I said what makes you think they will get a winner even if they do pick in the first rd due to their previous record?

i've looked for the quote before and never found it. it was just something i heard in a news conference and i've also heard others comment on it. i'll also grant you that maybe i misunderstood him but i'll dig later today when i get some time.

yea, after 3 years it's good to see someone behind center who's not courted by the AARP of the NFL.

nothing. i just prefer that route. we've seen 3 years of aged vet qb and the suck. if we're going to suck let's at least do it while trying for long term answers and not a shotgun approach at qb.

They have been trying the young guys. It was one of those young guys, Q, that forced us to play Vinny. Henson clearly was over hyped, and probably should have been jettisoned sooner. Romo is someone to try, and that is one area where BP really needs to push it- get this guy some game time so that we can see if he has it or not.

We NEED to find out about Romo this year if at all possible. So if we can see he just does not have it we can do a Ditka next year for Brady Quinn or someone else.

There are VERY few here that have NOT criticised BP for something or another- so I would like you, ICEBERG, to name those posters who think BP is GOD.

glad i could help.

and if not, why else do you follow me around and go "stop whining! WAH! stop whining i said - you're stupid! don't you know anything??? WAH!!! stop whining!"

if you don't like what i say - fine. if you disagree, fine. but there are better ways to do it than to fling out insults. if not to feel better about yourself, your own views, and being self-rightious, then why else?

wait a minute - i just checked my apathy meter and i don't need an answer to that.

if it's not obvious to you then my pointing out who i feel thinks that way won't go anywhere good - so don't fret, it's ok. you've got bp to keep you warn through at least the rest of this year.

I think BP has made several mistakes. rogers being the most telling since he was warned about his injury, etc. I think at QB we pretty much were screwed by JJ wanting his pets Q, Hutch and Henson. And I think BP could have done better in putting together a better staff. BUt like I said, and since you declined I think you really do not have more then one or two that you can show that have NOT criticised BP.

Bill has a 3 year rule ? Please explain it to me.

I know that it is biased to judge a draft pick fully before 3 years.

But I am curious about what Parcells perception is.

I would love to explain it to you... but there really is no point in doing so....is there?

You see... the Commanders BUY old hasbeens and they dont stay for three years themselves....by buying the hasbeens there are no young players on the team for one year... let alone three....

If you STILL want me explain it after you read this... then I will wast my time just for you

he can't, w/ ice everything is in extremes, he's such an extreme pessimist/hater, that everyone who's viewpoint differs from him must be an extreme homer w/ no rational thought of their own, which we know isn't true since we beat him over the head w/ facts every, single time he steps to the plate
