I ran through the pages on PF reference and assuming I was not careless in checking (I dont think I was) Dallas has only scored 30 points in all 3 of their first 3 games one time in their history. Oddly it was the losing season of 1986 (7 and 9 record) and they actually scored 30+ in their first 4 that year. Now they have been close to doing it many other times. In 1966 and 1968 they averaged over 40+ in their first three games but each time had 1 game where they barely missed the 30 point mark.

It's a safe bet they tie the 1986 record Sunday. Weirder things have happened though.

When I opened this thread I was certain it was going to be about the Dolphins futility.

How can they tie that on Sunday?

In 2007 Dallas opened with 45, 37, 34, and 35 points over their first four games.

ah, every thread has to have a wise azz answer, I think its a law

look at the subject line you nice person
I'm serious. If they actually had the first four games at 30+, that's the record, so how can they tie the record with their third game?

This talk is about “style points”. Style points only matter in college fb where teams have to impress voters to get to a playoff then a championship. NFL championships are won entirely on the field. No voting. No style points. Just win.

That’s how I view this season. Just win. I don’t give a rat’s behind how many points we score as long as we win. If we beat Miami by one point or by 50, we will remain in first place in the NFC East. That’s what matters.

The only reason some of us want to win by a blowout or we’re upset is that it affects how we feel. That's the only reason. We as fans are quick to see point spreads in a win or in a loss as some kind of confirmation of what we believe about our team. Winning is confirmation. Not point spreads.

Im just saying that the declarations that a good team must prove its goodness by margin of victory is more about how we feel than what our team is or isn’t.

so it is 4 games , that was a good start, Romo was hot back then, then it went to his head.

It also helps if your defense can set up or add some points.

I think he meant they would tie a lessor record, 3 games would be a record too just less than the top record.
if only 2 teams have ever done 3 that is something, it is just that they also did 4.
