300 carries

Interesting stat I read this week...
in 1998 11 players had 300 or more carries
In 2008 5 players had 300 or more carries
In 2018 1 player.. (Zeke) had 300 or more carries.
Obviously the league has changed, and I am not devaluing Zeke at all. I think he is a great weapon as he is more than just a guy who runs the ball. I don't see why Zeke cant get 250 carries and 90 catches. Who can cover him out of the backfied?

sounds to me as if you are questioning the process...

He did that while catching 77 balls. That’s approximately 20 carries and 5 catches per game average.

Jerry says he’s not worried...which has me worried.

A lot of Zekes carries were dumb, lazy Linehan play calls. To frequently run Zeke with 8 or more in the box was dumb. Arrogance to think our line can just magically open holes. Good teams with creative offenses, punish teams that stack the box. Our offense last season, just run Zeke. PAY THE MAN
OR fire Linehan for lazy play calls... oh wait! Good job Jones boys for getting rid of that boob. Seems to me the FO is intent on feeding Zeke less in 2019.

Teams do it with multiple backs now. They spread the load and it keeps the backs healthier over the coarse of the season. If you have three guys who can do it, you also protect yourself from injury a bit more. This, of course, is to say nothing of the overall trend towards more passing because it's just flat easier to throw, with the way the rules are set up in todays game.

What happened to the 300 at the end of the movie

RB by committee is far more popular than just a workhorse RB in today's NFL.
RedZone leaving points in the field. Perfect example. The running game was gassed by the time it got to the point where it mattered most

They changed the clock rules around 2008 or so.

Clock restarts after going out bounds.

Made the games shorter, imho.

McCaffery

it's way off subject but I found out about an hour ago I played HS ball with McCaffery's dad

he was a RB too - not near as fast but nobody, but played just as hard, really good people

That's cool.
Ed McCaffery had a very long NFL career.
Dude was 6'5, so hard imagining him as a RB.
