Third and eleven typically spells doom, even for the best of offenses. It may look a lot worse when injuries hit the receiving core, and it'll happen at some point.
I like our WRs but after the two starters, it gets really thin, really quick. We have guys who can make plays and that's good. But certainly not with any degree of consistency.
Hopefully, nothing serious injurywise that might keep a guy out for an extended period will occur. The good thing is, we have an outstanding tight end core and a very nice group of runners.
That, IMO, would leave the offensive line as the key unit on this club. Must keep out of those 3rd and 7-plus situations. Do well on first down. Protect Bledsoe. Run the ball well and shorten games.
Parcells has won plenty without stellar WR units in the past. This one is solid, provided injuries don't take Glenn or Johnson out for weeks at a time. Then again, injuries always tell the tale with football teams.
So, I wouldn't get too bogged down with what happens on 3rd and long. The success rate for any offense in such a situation is minimal.
