I ask , which receiver has the speed to seperate and find the seam for a gain of 14?

I felt this was a huge problem for Vincenzo last season....and I still don't see that Speed guy....

Do you?

It's not about how fast you run, it's about how fast you get open.

And here's something for you, which Cowboys WR averaged 14.0 yards per catch last season?

Who do I got to on 3rd and 14? Keyshawn Johnson. Speed is overated.

Damn. We should have kept Randal Williams. The season is lost.

Actually, we shouldn't see near as many 3rd and 11's as last year. Our line and RB starters and depth are vastly improved. I'm not predicting that this senario will even dictate the season.

If we are in this situation with any regularity, something went terribly wrong other than not having someone you would call a speed guy.

All that said, Glenn is very fast. Crayton and Witten both seem to be great at getting seperation. And Key isn't too awful bad at using his body to shield defenders. He's also smart and will know where that first down marker lies. If we do run the ball to JJ or A-Train or even MBIII, I bet none of these guys steps out of bounds with a few more clear yards in front of him.

Lets see, looking back to last year...4th and 11...over the middle, Patrck Crayton against Washington...Bingo 1st down. Used the last game because its the closest we have to right now.

Of course, that was with rubber armed Vinny and our #1 and 2 (Glenn and Key) receivers out.

I see this stuff keeps you up at night...lol

Considering Keyshawn averaged 14 ypc last year, Key?

Third and eleven typically spells doom, even for the best of offenses. It may look a lot worse when injuries hit the receiving core, and it'll happen at some point.

I like our WRs but after the two starters, it gets really thin, really quick. We have guys who can make plays and that's good. But certainly not with any degree of consistency.

Hopefully, nothing serious injurywise that might keep a guy out for an extended period will occur. The good thing is, we have an outstanding tight end core and a very nice group of runners.

That, IMO, would leave the offensive line as the key unit on this club. Must keep out of those 3rd and 7-plus situations. Do well on first down. Protect Bledsoe. Run the ball well and shorten games.

Parcells has won plenty without stellar WR units in the past. This one is solid, provided injuries don't take Glenn or Johnson out for weeks at a time. Then again, injuries always tell the tale with football teams.

So, I wouldn't get too bogged down with what happens on 3rd and long. The success rate for any offense in such a situation is minimal.

so well that we won 6 games last season :bang2:
yep, and 3 of the six came in the seven game JJ was starting.

Believe it or not the NFL has seen some of the all time great WR who were no more than 4.5 runners yet they got open and made the catches. Speed is a great asset to have but not what makes a WR great. Rice and Largent 2 of the all time leading WR yet neither noted as speed guys.

with the exception of the first game against the Ravens, every game that we had with JJ went right down to the final quarter, and in some down to the final minute. All 6 of the last games COULD have been won; we SHOULD have beaten both the Eagles and the Giants. With a better D, better O line, better QB, healthy receivers- we should be in every game we play this year and win most of them.

if it is 3rd and 11...I am not sold that you want Bledsoe throwing it..let alone who is gonna catch it...

but yeah we need a deep threat...but we couldn't get everything we needed this year in the draft..but I expect we will have gotten that deep threat by this same time next year...

this team though overall has substainally improved its talent and with one more good draft or two we become a rock solid contender for the next few years

OK...so we're calling for screens and draws on 3rd and long....basically the JETS playbook....Insanity.

Terry Glenn is oft injured...not meant to run the slant 5 '9' 178...

Keyshawn Johnson couldn't outrun Derek Kenard...

Quincy Morgan has hands like feet...

Could you please tell us besides last season when was the last time Terry Glenn missed more than 2 games in a season due to injury?

99 - 13 games started, 14 played
01 - 1 game started, 4 played

3rd -11 With Bledsoe lets see his normal routine is

and the other standard play
