The Cowboys definitely should have continued to blitz in the 2nd half according to this: "The Cowboys blitz had early success against Aaron Rodgers, holding him to 2-of-5 passing in the 1st half and generating 3 pressures. Despite the success, the Cowboys blitzed just twice in the 2nd half as Rodgers went 14-of-18 with 2 TD against the Cowboys standard rush." ... adjustments by the Packers likely contributed as well, but why not continue to blitz at times?
Interestingly though...a 'hobbled' Rodgers came back in the 3rd quarter with the Lions & Packers tied at 14 and led GB on a 60 yard drive that resulted in a TD pass to Cobb. The Packers never trailed again and ended up scoring 30 points. And the Lions definitely have a very solid defensive front.
Rodgers had to move on a couple of his TD passes vs. the Boys. On his first to Quarles, he climbed the pocket & it appeared as if he was going run...then he just flipped the ball into the end zone.
Despite the defensive lapses, the Cowboys still could've easily won that game. But there was also of course mistakes by the offense & ST's as well. Murray's fumble resulted in a Packers FG...and Bailey missed another FG. Those 2 plays are a 6 point swing in a 5 point loss...and had Murray not fumbled, he may well have scored. Perhaps the Cowboys should have also considered punting after Bailey's first miss & being backed up 5 yards on a false start (making it a 50-yard attempt)...particularly considering the field conditions & Bailey's 1st try. Working with much better field position after the botched Bailey attempt, the Packers were able to get a FG of their own.
Then there was more dumb luck that went against the Cowboys as well...like Cobb's diving 12 yard reception off a deflected pass on 3rd & 11.
There were also of course two plays where roughing the passer should have been called...when Romo was hit low. Phil Sims mentioned those plays during the Denver vs. Indy game, after it was called on the Colts for hitting Manning low. Won't even delve into Bryant's play & that rule.
