I said it's my suspicion. I never said it was fact. I doubt any of us here are anything more than fans. A message board is here for fan discussion. Didn't mean to Dak thong in a ruffle.

yah but you have a sneaking suspicion. :muttley::muttley:

I have a sneaky suspicion that Dak checked out of the run play on third down to a pass and that is why McCarthy threw his headset and yelled "A***ole"! If reporters were doing their job they would be asking if Dak changed the play call at the line.
Does McCarthy even know what play was called? Supposedly, he doesn't know the playbook.

I agree we should’ve ran the ball on that third down, but if the officials had done their job we still would’ve got the first down.

He threw the headset because of the missed PI on Lamb the play before. Don’t make stupid stuff up to try and pin it on Dak because you don’t like him.

On the OT drive, it is shocking to me that Kellen and Mike didn't run on 3rd and 3 knowing they were going to go for it on 4th.
Football 101. This game is super simple. Instead Kellen overthinks it.

Teams don't have to worry about beating the Cowboys. The Cowboys do it to themselves.

When do people have to be held accountable for being to stupid???

GET RID OF KELLEN MOORE. I am disgusted by the choice of plays on the final 2 plays for the offense. Pollard is on fire, and we are running decent. burn that damn clock, and kick the field goal if needed.

Your chance of getting 3 yards on two carries is very high, especially considering that the run game was actually very efficient yesterday (5.1 ypc). Even if you decide to throw on 4th and short if you do not get it, your playbook is much larger than what you are looking at on 4th and 3.

In that 3rd down situation you run the ball 99% of the time if you know that it is 4 down territory. At this point I think the only explanation is that Mike had not communicated it with the rest of the staff that they were going to go for it in a long field goal situation.

A note from last year. I wonder if this was the problem yesterday?

[Helman] Kellen Moore says the Cowboys called 28 runs on Thursday night. Dak checked out of 12 of them based on the look.

I said this could be a trap game, if we've had one this year at all, and it was.

Still, like you say, it's not the end of the world. And we faced one of the best QBs to ever play.

Reporters are part of the show. They're not looking to make waves.

Should’ve run the draw they’d had great success with but no, Kellen had to get cute once again.

Wasn't the holding penalty called on a draw play? I think they may have not wanted to go back to it so soon.

This is a great point. For some reason Moore loses faith in the run game very easily.

I agree 100%. You coulda ran a draw… a read option…rpo…. Hell you coulda ran it up the middle and potential got positive yardage. A first down or a 4th and short.

the problem is the decision wasn’t made until 4th down to go for it. 100% pack of planning ahead

Fat Mike said he told KM we were going for it on 4th after the 2nd down. KM knew he had 2 downs to get 3 yards.

Yeah people complaining about the play call conveniently forget that the ref let Alexander have sex with Lamb all out in the open to keep him from going up for the ball. Not only did he pull down his left shoulder he went completely through Lamb's body trying to bat the ball down. He actually fouled him twice.. and if that wasn't enough how about the fact that Lamb was at least 6 yards downfield at the point of contact.. Anybody in the class wanna tell the rest of the class what's wrong with the fact that he was contacted with 6 yards downfield?

Honestly i would have given the ball to Pollard every play in overtime. I bet he would have broken one for 35 yards for the game winner.

I think Pollard took himself out of the game after 3 carries. Pretty sure Davis then took the next 4 plays before Pollard came in for that 4th down play. I think that’s the concern with Pollard is he isn’t a work horse back. He takes himself out of the game after a few carries. That said Davis was gashing them as well in 4th and OT. Fact that they never stick to the run when having success is dumb and stupid overcoaching and trying to be cute.

What’s troubling?

the fact that some troll said something dumb about Dak or that you were gullable enough to believe him?
Whats amazing is they are talking about the run plays he checked out of in the Tampa game last season when Dak had arguably the best game of his entire career.

This has been a hallmark of Moore's offense since he took over.. and it was featured a lot when Garrett was in charge until 2014. It's because Garrett's approach to offense was very much paint by numbers.. He used formula sheets to determine what play works in what down and distance against what defensive looks. The Cowboys frequently automatically audible to certain passes when they get certain defensive looks. The problem with that philosophy is that every good DC in the league knows it.. So they manipulate them into running the plays THEY want them to run by showing certain looks pre-snap then dropping the coverage to the exact spot where they know the ball is going.

Moore has continued that tradition and philosophy. He, much like Garrett thinks players are chess pieces and that there is no difference between Noah Brown and Amari Cooper.. He also doesn't understand the difference gaining 5 yards on the ground vs 5 yards through the air makes on a defense. "Yards are yards.." Never mind the pounding the run game puts on the defense. Never mind that it keeps pass rushers from teeing off coming at your QB.. Never mind that if you continue to be successful doing it, you force them to give up a man in coverage to be the 8th man in the box. None of that seems to matter to him.. which is why he can't leave Dallas fast enough for me.. This formula offense will strafe sorry teams and put up fluffly numbers in the regular season, but it will never get us to the promised land.
