3rd and Short - Empty Backfield

Hah, when I saw the empty backfield on the shovel pass TD to Witten, I went from yelling at my TV to a standing ovation.

I shouted finally lol. I've seen so many teams use that and wondered why haven't we tried it.

I'm not bothered by the formation, I'm bothered by the routes. You need four yards and you send five guys 15 yards up field?

Overall I thought it was a well-called game with some unique and creative play calls, but I'm tired of having these conversations every week about 3rd and manageable.

why are you making 3&4 a definite passing down, when you have the best back in the league?
you have to give teams the threat of run in that situation.....

we lost all momentum on that failed 3rd down.... If that circumstance happen again, they have to show a different look.

I agree philosophically that it's bad, but I've thought that every time they use it and it's worked pretty well this year. Thus, I forgive its use.

You're stretching out the defense. I thought it was a really good play call.

Especially with how often we do run it.

They've converted many times using that formation. It does seem odd that they would give up the threat of the run, but it seems to work more often than not.
