The cowboys Defense may have finally gotten rid of its Weakest link: Its Coordinator. So who ever we bring in next wether it be a 3-4 coach or a 4-3 coach both schemes are very much a possibility with our current roster. here is a chart of our current scheme the 3-4:

Number-----Player
25 Pat Watkins
31 Roy Williams
57 Kevin Burnett
54 Bobby Carpenter
50 Akin Ayodele
94 Demarcus Ware
42 Anthony Henry
99 Chris Canty
95 Jason Ferguson
96 Marcus Spears
41 Terrence Newman

Number----Player
25 Pat Watkins
31 Roy Williams
54 Bobby Carpenter
50 Akin Ayodele
94 Demarcus Ware
42 Anthony Henry
99 Chris Canty
97 Jason Hatcher
95 Jason Ferguson
96 Marcus Spears

Chris Canty and Marcus Spears aren't 4-3 defensive ends. Jason Hatcher and DeMarcus Ware are.

i think ware has shown enough skill to stick to linebacker, i remember seeing an article saying he was to small to play NFL DE because of his frame, but its still a possibility

If they go back to the 4-3, I'd say go spend the money on Dwight Freeny. ( i no the colts will not let him go easily) but speed and power could be awesome tandem....

then who gets the pink slip? canty or spears (seeing that we dont move Ware back to DE)

although i do believe Canty can be moved to DT which could allow Ware to move to DE that would mean we could have:

Ware -- Canty -- Ferguson -- Freeny

Exactly.

My feeling is that both Canty and Spears would make fine 4-3 DT's.

Yeah you dont have to put Ware at End either because he is way more than capable of playing OLB in a 4-3.

I hope we stick with the 3-4 just because its a better defense if you have someone who has a clue on how to run it.

Bring in my boy Dick Lebeau.

Personally I see Spears as a tackle in the 4-3 better than a DE in the 3-4..

Yeah Ware as a 4-3 OLB. That'd be a great use of his talent.

i never said it wasn't possible, just i thought i remembered an article saying he was to small for DE in the NFL. and to my own defense when Charles Played I do not believe the OFfensive Tackles where as mammoth sized as they are today.

The 3-4 is Parcell's baby... if it was up to our coordinator (Zimmer) we would still be running the 4-3. If Parcells is here... we're definitely running the 3-4 still.

Putting Ware at LB and watching him cover a TE 15 yards downfield is like hooking Secretariat up to a plow.

who dat? and when he had to go cover the WR twenty yards down the field if he (Ware ) didn't dive for the ball he could have tackled him for a much less gain of yards.

The problem with Ware at OLB in the 4-3 is that the Cowboys still have no real pass-rushing presence up front. And it's much more standard to "rush" an OLB in the 3-4 than it is to blitz one in the 4-3. They'd have to send five people every play practically to have any shot at a pass rush.
