Traded with Atlanta to get 1/31,2/31 then traded again with LA-Chargers to get 2/6 and 3/7.

Round 2 Pick 6 (LAC): Charles Harris, DE/OLB, Missouri (A)
- immediate Starter / rotational player at one end position
Round 2 Pick 31 (ATL): Budda Baker, FS, Washington (A)
- Starts at FS and moves Jones to SS and more of a in the box cover TE. Takes up deep half
Round 3 Pick 2 (S.F.): Fabian Moreau, CB/FS, UCLA (A)
- Replaces Mo for CB with most injuries and if he's healthy his sparq is off the chart.
Round 3 Pick 7 (LAC): Justin Evans, SS, Texas A&M (A-)
- backup for both Safty spots with Nose for the ball.
Round 3 Pick 28: Cooper Kupp, WR, Eastern Washington (A+)
- total Steel here could start opposite Dez day 1 but will be nice backup and insurance if Twill was just doing it for a contract.
Round 4 Pick 7 (WASH): Carroll Phillips, DE/OLB, Illinois (A)
- utility DE OLB to replace Wilber next year when time comes.
Round 4 Pick 26: Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami (Fla.) (A)
- Sorry Kellen Noodle-Moore is smart but he's got spaghetti for an arm, and his legs are begging to be DL Toothpicks
Round 4 Pick 36 (S.F.): Daeshon Hall, DE, Texas A&M (B-)
- Cover your butt Lawerence is gone next year and Gregory is a puff away from being kicked out of the league.
Round 5 Pick 10 (WASH): Ben Braden, OG, Michigan (B+)
- Leary power and replacement.
Round 6 Pick 27: Storm Norton, OT, Toledo (B)
- Need more depth here
Round 7 Pick 10: Pharaoh Brown, TE, Oregon (C-)
- Good all around late TE that can do it all.
Round 7 Pick 28: De'Veon Smith, RB, Michigan (B+)
- Solid all around back and insurance for Elliot getting suspended sometime in next few years.

Love it...the Jimmy Johnson type of draft. Bring em all in and let them fight it out to make the team.

Neither of your 2nd rounders get out of the 1st round. Baker maybe but a very high 2nd rounder

Oh, another "Jimmy Johnson traded back so we should do that draft."

For the last time. Jimmy built around tweeners - he wanted speed when others wanted size. That got him great late rounders.

Gig is up on that.

Trade back now means get a great draft grade and cut 4th rounders in camp

I like a lot of the players, but I can't get on board with two safeties in the first four picks.

Heath will be the 3rd safety at worst.

Trading back is fantasy in this draft. The talent tier falls several picks before #28 and stays even until the middle or late in round 2 by most estimates.

The only excuse any can muster is that 5th year. You still won't get the value any chart will reflect because the talent is so close for such a long stretch. The teams around you will settle for less.

This is the one draft where the more picks, the better. This is the deepest & most talented draft I've seen in over 35 years. The OL class is sub-par, & the QB class is average, at best, but every other position is loaded into the 5th-6th round. The Browns had better come out way ahead of everyone else this year, or they need to sell the team to someone who knows how to run a football team.

Unless a team really wants one of top 4 QBs and he's there at 28

I can see what you mean here. I don't mind a slight trade down, of no more than 5 to 8 slots. As I feel all the players from 26 to 38 are about the same depending a teams draft board. But all of those that are there can help us right away no matter what positions, CB, S, DE.
But too many trade downs to accumulate picks is not good, no matter how deep people think the draft is.
Cleveland kept trading down and down to accumulate picks last year, and the word is they will do it gain. So what will they have...a lot of mediocre players hoping to strike gold on a numbers game...it usually does not work. Draft the higher round players....the guys that can actually play. This is why they are the Browns, and why they will stay the Browns.

Anyway, I agree, this Jimmy Johnson trade down, smaller players, athletes just does not work any more. Give me a little less athletic player that can actually play. The thing that drives me buts is this coaching staff likes those "versatile" players on the DL. I just wish they keep them at one spot, the one they are best at. Not this play inside and outside crap.

As for this slight trade down, maybe with the Rams. From the point chart I have, we trade our 1st and 3rd to the Rams for their 2nd, 3rd, 5th. And we come out slightly ahead on the point chart. Maybe we can get a 2018 3rd, 4th or 5th also from them because it is a 1st they are getting, and that 5th year option. So we will have 2 2nds, move up from the 28th to the 5th pick in the 3rd, get a 5th that we didn't have before. Selecting 8 players should be just fine in this draft.

I was pretty drunk when I wrote this so I'll concede you're right about that.

However, I still think the sustained talent tier that exists into the mid-to-late 2nd round (if it's real) means you won't be getting much for the trade down.

In this example a move down 3 spots for a pick at the end of round 2 makes little sense, plus I don't know why Atlanta would do it. They aren't trying to get a QB I suspect. Then a move down 7 spots for a high 3rd, also to a team that isn't likely to be going QB.

I normally don't say much but nice things on mocks because it's just a fun exercise for people. I just finally caved due to believing the trade down idea, which is getting major support at this point, often disregards the other team's position.

I don't buy into this deep draft stuff too much. We hear this every year. Best draft for X positions, deepest it's been in X years. Next year we will hear it again.
You get your players upfront in the first 2 rounds, the impact guys, and a solid player in the 3rd that can develop. From the 4th round on it is like gambling. You do your home work and it could pay off, but a good part of the time, you just get lucky.
Trade down too much to get more players, still does not mean your chances are better. Take the sure shot, get a player you know will be an impact.
