Lots of talk about the offense, and rightfully so....but this defense has been playing great lately.

Yeah, time of possession helps, but is this something any of us thought would happen? Even the first two games, 20 and 23 points allowed. Pretty impressive so far.

The last 2 games, we had less TOP than our opponents. So this is even more amazing stat against 2 high powered offenses.

What we did yesterday was great.

But that model not sustainable. We batted passes away often, we were not blanketing coverage. It took effort and it was very good.

But the Packers have been out of sync for a while.

It is not like we beat GB from three years ago. They are having their own struggles. So is Cincinnati.

But before you jump me for trying to dump on the accomplishments, stop. I am not.

It is just hard to gauge totalities from what we have seen.

And I think everyone gets why we need a pass rush.
We are 3 sacks away from being top 10 in sacks. Bet you other then Vikings all other 9 teams would trade us records. Can we improve...yes but sacks isn't the be all end all. I much rather get turnovers, stops and hold teams to fg over sacks any day. Teams aren't scoring on Dallas unless it's garbage time when we play soft. We are getting pressure and that's more important. What good is a sack if a team picks up the first down next play. Dallas is getting the sacks art most important time

People equate sacks as being general pressure.

We are not getting enough pressure.

This season has been suprisingly awesome so far. Offense and defense and coaching.

Opposing QB when we're up by more than two scores in the 4th quarter (Dalton, Hoyer, Rogers):
29 of 32 (90.6%) 283 yd 8.8 ypa 4 td 0 int 143.1

all other passes...
134 of 197 (68.0%) 1314 yd 6.7 ypa 6 td 4 int 88.3
Dropping gems as usual.

Pretty hilarious how efficient QB's are vs. the prevent, but I wasn't expecting anything different.

What game were you watching?

I saw Rodgers holding the ball a lot waiting for guys to get open. Besides Rodgers missing a butt naked Cobb in the endzone, the coverage was very good, despite what Rodgers #'s say.

The announcers keep referring to more press man, but I swear sometimes it looks like we are taking away the short passes that used to kill us with tight press coverage, but then it's almost like the defense morphs into excellent zone coverage mid-play. I know that can't be the case, but when QBs have time to pass and can't find anyone or dump the ball and guys are right there, that's what it looks like.

The corners, despite missing Scandrick most of the year, are playing much better and tackling better. Coaching? Sure, but maybe the safety play is so improved that the corners are playing with much more confidence as well.

The defense took advantage of mistakes which is what good teams do. But Rodgers at times had ALL day to throw the ball. If he wasn't out in lala land, I think they score 28 points easily. It is about time that some of those bounces start going our way. But there were times that he could have sat down and had lunch he had so much time.

The offense is doing a great job of keeping those guys off the field and the defense has improved each week.

Marinelli has always had that defense playing above it's talent. This year, we're not constantly putting the defense on the field by going 3 and out over and over and the offense can actually close games out again like in 2014. Our defense can play well if they're not on the field all game.

And those numbers are misleading because quite of few of them came in garbage time..... Bears had a meaningless TD, Bengals scored a few garbage time TD's, Packers had a cheap one last night.

This secondary is for real.
With less than 0 pass rush. I don't understand how they're doing it.

Absolutely. They bailed us out big time when Dak threw that pick putting Green Bay in the redzone. I just hope DLaw's shoulder is okay

It all has to do with offensive possession. Yes, the defense is playing well, but keep them on the field and not win the time of possession and not score and watch this defense wilt under the pressure of a quarterback who can take advantage of a lack of a pass rush.

At some point youre just good. I dont know when that point comes or if it already passed, but I cant watch that game sunday and say that the dallas defense had more to do with green bay's score than aaron rodgers being awful.

Where they able to do that even in 2014? I think this secondary is significantly better this year.

4 turnovers too. One where Rodgers basically gave Dallas the ball when GB was inside the 10.
Another, he just flat threw it straight to Church. No play required. perfect strike to the wrong guy.
Nice game for Dallas

they seem to be in the right position more often this year for sure.

On pace to be similar to the 2003 and 2009 defenses.

Since 2003, 67-15 is Dallas's record when allowing 17 points or less.
