4 Huge Concerns

1) Backup Quarterback - Weeden absolutely no good; bad decisions and can't really use the hes too young and hasnt played. Hes played even as a starter and still making same foolish plays. He needs to go. Dustin Vaughn may have potential strong armed and good size but simply not ready and makes too many mistakes at this time. Bottom line need to sign a Backup QB or if Romo goes down they don't have a prayer.

2) Punt/KIckoff returner/Special teams - been bad and they did not replace DeWayne Harris who left for the Giants. They need to be looking and looking fast.

3) Runningbacks - Big Concern if we cannot control the clock we are doomed. Right now its hard to judge since the Offensive Lineman or backups. But I honestly have a lot of doubts that McFadden/Randal can handle the workload they are not built for the pounding on the inside runs and if we have too constantly gain yards on the outside we are in trouble. We have to pound it inside or this offense want click.

4) Swing Offensive Tackle - Weems want get it done, something is going to have to be done here.

These are my observations only.

About the running backs, get ready to duck regularly until this thread has run its course.

Solid observations overall btw. I agree with every single viewpoint especially #3.

1. I share your concern. Romo goes down for it could cost the season

2. Lets wait until the normal players are playing. Right now a lot of the guys on punts and kicks will not be on the team.

3. I am concerned but want to see how it goes with the normal line and Dez to draw a double team.

4. Very concerned here. May need to pick up someone.

#3 is a concern to everyone that cares about this team. Some worry more than others. Me anytime I think about this team, I worry about rb, not much more than that. I truly wish we could flip a second for a true starter. As close and good as a team we are to make a run for the gold, I think it is crazy to not try to trade for lamaar miller or someone to that caliber.

So those long time die-hard fans who happen to not be overly concerned about the RB position (for various reasons, right or wrong) now all of a sudden don't care about the team?
That's a silly comment

1. Can you name the foolish plays by Weeden last night? Just curious. Best pass was dropped by Escobar. Completed two others that were the right read. One was a throw away which was a good decision after being pressured and no one open. Weeden is probab ly miggle of the pack as far as backup QB's go. Just the NFL reality. I'd guess 2/3 of the teams in the league would be season over if #1 QB went down.

2. THey have been bad in the preseason the last few years while they try to see what new guys have to offer. Almost always tightened up by season. The return game is an issue because it really seems like only option is Whitehead and while he is fast, I haven't seen much else from him. What is our plan B there?

3. I think the RB by committee will be ok. I think Randle gets first down work and McFadden comes in on passing downs. I still see nothing from Dunbar that the Randle and McFadden can't do as well or better. I would not be upset with picking up another back.

4. Weems wasn't terrible last night and played most LT. He and Collins bozo'd the one stunt but otherwise were ok. I think Weems will be better with a vet next to him rather than a rookie.

Exactly. I care about this team, and I don't have my briefs in a bundle over a RB. Especially with not having our starting line-up at any point for them to run behind.

Don't over analyze things. I'm not taking about in the super bowl era when we had emmitt. I'm talking about this year 2015. Scrubs and unproven guys to carry the load. And my comment about people who care about this team, meaning you think a gnats or eagles fan give a Hell about the dallas cowboys. Like I said don't over analyze stuff.

Would a rookie not be unproven? Yet if we had gotten a rookie in the draft most people's concerns would be gone. And yet you and others don't want to give Randle a shot? Or see what McFadden can do behind this line? That's insane.

.

And here lies a problem. So when McFadden comes in, teams will be dialed in to the pass, knowing Randle is not going to pass block. We become predictable like we were in the past. Randle in the game, most likely a run so they stack the line.

Those who scoff at Murray and think it's just the OL will be in for a rude awakening this season. Randle and McFadden aren't even close to Murray.

Yeah you are right. There is no distinction between talent at the RB position. Adrian Peterson = Lance Dunbar. I mean it's all the OL. The RB just presses a button a they automatically gain yards. No such thing as vision, patience, when do accelerate, cut back, etc.

You guys are funny.

1. EVERY NFL teams season is over if their starting Qb goes down.

2. I didn't see where Whitehead did all that bad. Had a couple nice returns actually. Of course that's with guys that will be bagging groceries this time next week. He does just as much as Harris did except cheaper. No fall off there from what I see. I think we will have a new punter this yr. The Aussie is gonna take it.

3. From what very little sample size we have to go on (and w/o the starting OL) I see no reason to hit panic after PRESEASON game #2. Look both SD and SF suck and looks like they gameplanned to win both games. SF is out there running exotic blitz packages and complicated coverages in a preseason game. That's dumb and I'm glad we don't do it.

4. I think we go with Collins, Bernadeau and Weems as backup OL until Green gets back. You can't get too worried about things that may never come in to play

Randle looked very good last night. He has more speed, better lateral quickness, and much better vision than Murray.

The thing I have noticed about all of this...the ones most concerned with RB are the same ones saying we'd never win under Garrett. Tells me they just need something to ***** about.

I agree with the backup QB. But the thing is, you would like a guy who could save the ship from sinking if Romo went down for a few games. Right now, Weeden and Vaughan are not that guy.

I wish we had someone like Kitna right about now.

Your points are valid, but on the other side I doubt the 2015 version of Murray will be close to the 2014 version even if he stayed in Dallas. I wouldn't have expected more than 1200-1300 yards. Not saying I couldn't be wrong, but I think last year was easily his career year.

1. Like everyone mentioned, if you are lucky to have a quality starting QB that goes down; your season is done. I do think we need to have someone back there better than Weeded and definitely draft one next year to start grooming.

2. This bothers me. I'm not sold on Lucky and we don't have a plan B. Coverage is horrible. We will have some starters come the season but these backup guys who will be expected to play ST haven't looked good vs other backups.

3. Too early to tell what we have in Randle and McFadden. I am concerend though but I'll be patient until they run behind the starting line. Still think we find better competiton like the aussie kid from SF for Dunbar on down. What has Dunbar done for you lately?

4. Minus Collins, the 2nd group hasn't been promising. Weems as the swing tackle? If he ever needs to fill in as a starter we are in trouble!
