4 Huge Concerns

Your not going to swing Martin hes a starter at Guard and Collins is expected to start in Leary's spot so if
you use them at Tackle spots than Guard spot is an issue

Bernadeau can play guard better than Weems can play tackle.

Collins isn't going to beat out Leary. No chance.

none so blind that will not see that TOP was the MAJOR reason for the defensive improvement last year and we got THAT because of the running game. That BS claim about running not being important is not worth responding to.

No one said running wasn't important, home skillet. I said running well didn't correlate to winning. That's an empirically substantiated point.

The defense improved on a per drive basis as well, not simply because they had fewer drives. Now, I don't doubt there's a fatigue factor, but Murray obviously didn't help with that fatigue in three previous seasons.

I agree the running game made Romo more efficient last year, but he's always been efficient enough to win. The pass defense was the major culprit in all of those 8-8 seasons. The jump in record happened after the pass defense elevated its game from abysmal to mediocre.

Like Romo, Murray was on all of those .500 teams.

Those teams lacked the confidence and commitment to the run game.

1) Backup Quarterback - Weeden absolutely no good; bad decisions and can't really use the hes too young and hasnt played. Hes played even as a starter and still making same foolish plays. He needs to go. Dustin Vaughn may have potential strong armed and good size but simply not ready and makes too many mistakes at this time. Bottom line need to sign a Backup QB or if Romo goes down they don't have a prayer.

2) Punt/KIckoff returner/Special teams - been bad and they did not replace DeWayne Harris who left for the Giants. They need to be looking and looking fast.

3) Runningbacks - Big Concern if we cannot control the clock we are doomed. Right now its hard to judge since the Offensive Lineman or backups. But I honestly have a lot of doubts that McFadden/Randal can handle the workload they are not built for the pounding on the inside runs and if we have too constantly gain yards on the outside we are in trouble. We have to pound it inside or this offense want click.

4) Swing Offensive Tackle - Weems want get it done, something is going to have to be done here.

These are my observations only.

Thanks. I was looking for a "concerns" 411 based on preseason games.

I do think that if Romo goes down.... JUST FORGET IT!

If he goes dine for short period of time we need to scheme for oline/RB and defense to win those games.
Replacing Harris is a concern.

Backup QB really can't be addressed without a trade at this point so we just gotta roll with what we got.

Not sure if RB and special teams is as big a problem as some think. We will get a much better idea of what we have next week.

We tried to solve our problem at swing tackle thru the draft but we will have to wait till next year to see if he is the solution. Hopefully a decent vet gets released and we scoop him up.

There's a number of concerns nothing about the team has looked very good so far and the special teams have been dreadful.

Music to your ears...I'm sure.

HELLO! 3/4 of the freaking team has not even played yet!

And here lies a problem. So when McFadden comes in, teams will be dialed in to the pass, knowing Randle is not going to pass block. We become predictable like we were in the past. Randle in the game, most likely a run so they stack the line. Those who scoff at Murray and think it's just the OL will be in for a rude awakening this season. Randle and McFadden aren't even close to Murray.

Yeah you are right. There is no distinction between talent at the RB position. Adrian Peterson = Lance Dunbar. I mean it's all the OL. The RB just presses a button a they automatically gain yards. No such thing as vision, patience, when do accelerate, cut back, etc. You guys are funny.

Rb matters, but Murray had poor vision, poor burst, and poor cut back ability. And he was injury prone.

Rb matters, but matters less when you have the best line in football.

I'd give Murray a 7 on a scale of 1-10

And..... These guys just didn't forget to play football since last season.

A lot of the same players are back PLUS PLUS better ones.

True...but KJJ always looks for the bad things about the team. You hardly ever hear him give any praise to any Cowboy...it's always doom or gloom for him!

Actually, Murray has good burst when he is fresh. By the end of a season, he has no burst.

Randle looked very good last night. He has more speed, better lateral quickness, and much better vision than Murray.

The thing I have noticed about all of this...the ones most concerned with RB are the same ones saying we'd never win under Garrett. Tells me they just need something to ***** about.

I saw the same. I think he had 4.3 yards per carry behind the backup oline. Made something out of nothing a few times as well. I wanted to see more on run blocking though. That's the one thing I was worried about the day we Murray was permanently gone.

Excellent insight. Thoughts conveyed to a completely different depth level. The kind of thoughts that have worried me since the end of the Demarco era in Dallas. Lord... I just hope we don't return to predictability. Any return of the like will significantly increase the chance of Romo not lasting a full season. I could go into further detail but I know we're all knowledgeable to the matter that lies between the lines. Hoping and praying this season eclipses all of our expectations in terms of team success.

Of course. Haven't you ever played Tecmo Bowl? We're fine. No problems.

Iraqi Defense Minister

I'm not saying let Romo go out there and chuck it all around Favre-style but if we run maybe 5 less runs a game and turn them into passes would that really be such a bad thing? This is the strongest WR core we have had at any point in the last 5 years. This is the best combination of defensive talent we have had in the last 5 years. More so than how much you run, having the threat of a run is enough to make the linebackers freeze once they see Romo turn around. I see the potential to have a scary good offense this season and the passing game is ready to be let loose, Romo is not some Andy Dalton type qb who we need to protect and who can't win us games. This is the best team we have had in quite some time, and if we can have a 60-40 passing running split I think we're in the business.

Thats a strong argument; We do have talent on Offense, and a lot of money wrapped up into WR and QB......And I do think the Defense will be better(I am hoping).

But I wouldve loaded up at the RB position, and told the entire league and anyone else who was listening that we are going to run the ball. We are taking this OL, and we are going to let them loose and attack. And were going to run the football right down your throat.....

We have this great OL, full of FirstRounders. All Pros. Best in the Biz. I am going to let them attack. And then I am going to have my Bell Cow or Two, run right behind that OL. Nothing fancy. Nothing complicated, High Percentage plays, no mistakes or turnovers..... Just handing the ball off, letting Romo trot way behind the action untouched, and letting my great OL and great RBs, slowly dominate and suck the soul right out of the other team.

I wouldve committed even more to the Run Game after the results we saw last year;

Also, I meant protect Romo from the chance of getting blindsided from a blitz or missed block; and from wear and tear, and carrying that burden week in and week out. He isnt getting any younger. And once you got back problems, you always have back problems. I want to protect Romo becuase I do want to see him play another 3 4 years.....

We might've been the most predictable we have ever been last year.

Teams just couldn't stop our run game.

The guy everyone wants to hate on averaged 7 yards per carry and everyone knew he was getting the ball when he was in the game.

1. EVERY NFL teams season is over if their starting Qb goes down.

2. I didn't see where Whitehead did all that bad. Had a couple nice returns actually. Of course that's with guys that will be bagging groceries this time next week. He does just as much as Harris did except cheaper. No fall off there from what I see. I think we will have a new punter this yr. The Aussie is gonna take it.

3. From what very little sample size we have to go on (and w/o the starting OL) I see no reason to hit panic after PRESEASON game #2. Look both SD and SF suck and looks like they gameplanned to win both games. SF is out there running exotic blitz packages and complicated coverages in a preseason game. That's dumb and I'm glad we don't do it.

4. I think we go with Collins, Bernadeau and Weems as backup OL until Green gets back. You can't get too worried about things that may never come in to play

Thank you for your mist of sanity.

I was thinking basically the same thing.

The return game is easily fixable. We can always sign a player who can fulfill that role. He might not be Devin Hester, but as long as he can catch the ball and get us a few yards, we'll be fine.
As for the swing position, we've been collecting offensive linemen for a reason, and versatile ones at that.

The running back situation will work itself out. Running backs simply aren't the commodity they once were. Yes, it would be great to have an Adrian Peterson-like back, but they don't grow on trees and the one guy who was like that in this draft (Todd Gurley) wasn't available and may not be healthy to start the season.

We have to roll with what we have, but I think it will be enough.
