That's how I look at the trade. We lost 100 points in trade value, big deal, ths draft was week. Your talking about 18 players between were we would have picked to where we will tomorrow, plus we get another early 4th. I trust this crew.

if the draft is weak shouldnt you try to trade up? or are you saying the draft is deep? so get more picks...

I was lost when the only team that didnt have a hole in the entire NFL didnt wanna make a pick!

You never trade up in a weak draft, you end up using a premium pick on a backup.

You do exactly what Dallas did, you trade out of day 1 and stockpile picks in the meat of the draft on day 2.

See, the value in a weak draft is in the middle. That is because the difference in talent from a player you can draft in the 2nd round is not that much higher than the talent of a guy you can draft in the 3rd.

So you dont end up paying premium money to a backup when you can get just as good a player for cheaper. Plus with extra picks, your chances of landing a good player are that much higher.

Exactly. Smart teams know this, which is why New England did the same thing. They have even more day 2 picks than us I believe.

Not necessarily. If it's weak, then you take a look at the strong part and decide if it's worth paying a premium or even overpaying. If there is such a player and the opportunity is there, then yes, you consider it.

However, in this particular draft, even the strength wasn't worth overpaying for. The top tackles in this draft weren't necessarily in the Orlando Pace/Jonathan Ogden mold when they came out of college. The QBs weren't the Troy Aikman/John Elway/Peyton Mannings no brainers. There was absolutly NO dominant defender around.

So the best move is the one Jerrah made, which is don't overpay, " keep your powder dry ", and regroup for the next day. One pick in the middle of the second round, isn't going to necessarily make or break this draft.

The Patriots have only seven picks tomorrow. We have 12. But they have been trading down. Belichick said this draft is weak at the top but has a lot of good depth.

I hope we pick up an extra 3rd/4th through a pick/player trade and pick these 5 plus the two comp picks in addtion - anything else trade for picks next year

Ah, that's right, I was thinking of their round 2 picks and keep thinking that round 2 is on day 2. Stupid 2's. :laugh2:
