Just to clear up before i start-following last nights game against the panthers im going to assume we have a top 10 pick.
ill be using cbs rankings.
im also goig to speculate that we fill a couple of holes via free agency-a key move im hoping to see is carr released,bj slides to cb full time and tashon gipson signed.depending on what we do with greg hardy aswell a move to sign andre branch id like to see and another dt to push hyden into more of a back up-mike martin from the titans would be a nice addition.

So the draft-from our lofty position (and a top 5 pick is certainly on the cards at present) id push for a trade down to acquire picks, down to around 20th could certainly net us an additional 2nd rounder this year and next-if the jets ring though id make an enquiry for there swapping 1st rounders this year and them sending leonard williams our way.
but for now lets say we pic up another 2nd this year

1-Darron lee-lb-ohio state
Currently speculated to go early 2nd round i can see him shooting up boards.Very similar player to ryan shazier whome the steelers took from right under our nose.lee-mclain-lee linebacker line up would arguably be the best in league

2-Darian Thompson-s-boise state
Yes we added gipson in free agency in my scenario but thompson along side gipson certainly upgrades the wilcox-church debacle we have had to suffer through.Gipson and thompson are more than capable of taking half the field each and should help mprove the play of our corners aswell.

2b-Josh Doctson-wr-tcu
Good hands, will push twill for the number 2 role day 1 and probably of the roster when he is up for renewal.

3-Anthony Zettle-dline-penn state
Was absolutley shocked to see him ranked this low.Gives the multiplicity desired amongst our current crop of coaches.Could easily drop 10lbs down to the mid 270s to play le and allow dlaw to float between left n right side or alternatively add 10lbs to line up as a dt.A player id love to see wearing the star and have reaved about for a good couple of years.

4-Jonathan Williams-rb-arkansas
I was really high on hs team mate, and then i stumbled across ths little gem.Runs hard, sees the field well but unfortunately got injured.Would serve well amongst our current crop of backs and have no problem carrying the load should somethng happen to run dmc or turbin

4comp-Lloyd Carrington-cb-arizona
A fiesty corner who altho lacking elite speed has no problem sticking to receivers.Good value pick here with our comp pick.

Team has no future without a QB. This draft woukd look good if we could expect 3 to 4 more years out of Romo, but expecting 2 is a huge stretch at this point. If we wind up in the top 4 this year with the QBs that will be available to us in both the 1st or 2nd round? We aee dooming ourselvesto either a long 6-10 stretch or giving a crazy amount of resourses to land a QB.

If we're picking top-ten, it would take a boat load for me to trade down.

If the Cowboys are not in the position to take Lynch or Goff then I look for a trade down offer. I am not selecting a QB just for the sake of selecting one. They must be BPA at the time of the pick. My trade down targets are Elliot or Henry.

I also would not trade down if the two top OTs are still on the board in Tunsil or Stanley. This offensive line is not so good that it can't be upgraded.

I have no idea what the next level of QBs I would take after Lynch and Goff.

If one of the QBs miraculously are on the board when the Cowboys pick comes up there may be teams blowing up your phone looking to trade up . I would gladly trade down if offered a kings ransom.

May be, and if someone makes an offer Jerry, Stephen & Co. can't refuse, I'm cool with a trade down. I just don't want to pass up an impact player for more picks.

I must also add that I would not trade down if Jalen Ramsey is on the board also. I would defiantly select him.

don't really see a qb worthy of a top 5 selection really.

This - I'm not sold on Goff, Lynch, or Cook. Hell, I personally like the intangibles and overall improving game of Dak Prescott in Round 2-3 over these guys.

Agreed.

No QB drafted in the first 4 rounds will render any mock this year... Not good.

Hopefully, they have a player in Chaz Green. Not every lineman needs to be a first rounder. A good running back will likely be available at the top of the second.

Everyone would be thrilled if the Cowboys could pull another "rabbit out of the hat" and get an UFA who can be 90% of what Romo is... but the chances of that are pretty slim (as we know).

doesnt mean we should reach for an average qb though which is all i see in this draft class.problem with average qb classes means guys that are no more than 2nd rounders realistically end up gettin reached for and going top10,which has a knock on effect through out the draft.
Take the opportunity to strengthen the rest of the roster that can still will us games if and when romo goes down.
It would also take the pressure of any potential rookie qb when we see one worth selecting at some point during a draft-take the seahawks approach-they built a solid roster and then took a qb when he fell to them, rather than the endless reaches of say the browns

Agreed, especially when it comes to the 1st round... but later on 3rd round, 4th round... I could see the Cowboys taking a shot on a guy who may be taken a round ahead of where they should.

Also this offseason, this scouting staff is probably going to be searching for a QB like never before so they may have better field intelligence going into the draft.
